Auburn was playing LSU in football when it burned. My seats were in the endzone opposite the side of Jordan Hare where the old barn was just across the street. Flames were higher than the stadium. I remember leaving the game and walking by the burned down barn and it was completely gone. Was caused by someone dumping hot charcoal on the ground and not making sure they weren't still burning.

Wild night.

The Barn was burning while the football game was being played. If you were at the football game, you could see the fire from Jordan-Hare. The TV coverage of the football game cut away several times to show the flames.

I was there, in the upper deck closest to the fire. My wife(ex) was 8 moths pregnant with our son, she panicked and said we were leaving. We walked down the ramp closest to the fire and dang it was hot. As a little kid, I played in that gym when at Auburn games with my grandparents.

LSU won 19-15

Auburn scored a TD with a little over 30 seconds left in the game to pull within 17-15. They went for two and the tie but LSU intercepted it and ran it back for a defensive 2 pt conversion.

I was also at that game sitting on the west side of the stadium. From my vantage point you couldn’t really tell how far the flames were from the stadium. Looked like the flames were right at the ramps, it was just surreal.

When I was a student at Auburn in 1977, we had PE classes in that old building. It was also the student activity building so you could workout there and they had concerts and other events. It had wooden sides and a huge wooden gym floor so it went up like a match stick.

I was there sitting in north end zone. From there it looked like the ne corner of the stadium was on fire. Flames were higher than the top rows in the stadium. Had PE classes in the barn and attended many events there. Seating was like 2,000 or so

Someone left a charcoal grill (or maybe they dumped out their hot coals) near the building. It was quite a fire.
