My dog is already taking a flea/tick pill every three months. Do you think it would hurt to spray him with a flea spray also? My wife goes over to my son's house and he gets fleas over there. I need to knock them out right away, when he gets home. He starts scratching at night and gets under the bed to rub his back against the boards under there. Wakes us up and sounds like he's doing calisthenics under there...lol I know the pill eventually kills them, but he needs something for right then. Thanks. Don't want to poison him.

Either the flea spray or one you put on his back that has a growth inhibitor in it that prevents them from spreading

Sounds like you probably need to spray the houe, too. It can take weeks to get rid of them.

Spray the house and yard (as much as you can) with permethrin.

If the problem ia at your kid’s house, maybe you could assist him with his issue, if it is the root cause.

Fleas are a real pain in the arse. I would start by treating your son's place first and not carrying the dog over there until they are flea free. I know that might not be the best option but it's certainly better than ending up with fleas at your house too.

Simple cheap and easy. Dust the house foundation with Boric Acid and Diatomaceous Earth Powder. Thats just old fashioned bug control but it sets a base than can last a year or two. Boric Acid kills most things fast, the Dia-Earth works its way into the cracks between the insects exoskeleton and makes them weak or kills them. Should not cost more than $50 to $100. If you got fancy plants do not over do the boric acid.
Then you can cheaply spray yard and treat the pets.

Get some capshield tablets they kill fleas within about 1 hour and if you order online are cheaper that the feed stores also if you order the ones for larger dogs and cut in half it is even a better deal like if your dog weights 25 lps get the one for 50 lps and cut in half

This is what I used when I allowed dogs in my home.... https://www.bengal.com/collections/all-products/products/full-season-flea-killer-plus-2

First treatment was the only treatment needed. Carpet, upholstered chairs and couches, rugs and such, even bare floor... door mats , where ever dogs or cats lay this stuff is the bomb.

Every time I tell someone what to use they ignore the most important part of the advice. Hit 'em once and then again two weeks later.

Dawn dishwashing liquid kills fleas on contact.
