Question Guvner, what say ye about this here piece of pottery? Looks like what the book says but the location is different. Location-Dallas County. Temper- fine sand and mica. My book says- Crooked River Complicated Stamped. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/vDRFykty/20250222-093626.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/pV7r6dzN/20250224-080905.jpg)

To my untrained eye it looks like the back of a piece of ceramic tile!!

Definitely injun pottery. I don't think that's the question. I believe It's about the specifics of it. Lots of goods traded then and could have originated from further south. Maybe our resident anthropologist will chime in soon. I'm curious now. Yup. I know it is part of an injun pot but just wondering skinny may know better than this book. Saw some tallahatta around it too. That stuff is all over the state.

Likely, way more than me.

A variation of Crooked River. Same stuff, Its Porter phase stuff about 200 AD. Middle Woodland. might be a mound nearby, think 5 foot tall x 50 to 100 yard rectangular ovaled-erosioned platform village area mound with a conical mound nearby.

I also took the first Fort Mann flag down, and the outer-roof of the primary Main building is on schedule to be fixed and set today and maybe if needed tomorrow. Trusses and tin. The tent and linen repair shop is nearly complete, so maybe more work will get done if the troops can get better rest. (Shed Shed). Accoutrements for the horse stables have been determined and hopefully the foundations will be on the daily schedule today. (Carport and work shed). New Fort Mann flag should be better positioned soon. Dragon weather indicators for the main roof may be visible today or tomorrow. (Dragon shaped Weather Vane, 1 of 2)
