I've always been taught that military was offense and everyone else was defense including the cops. I tote a surefire flashlight so I don't trip over anything a pair of serrated Spyderco wharncliffe blades and currently a .45 auto and spare magazines just in case. I'm definitely not a high speed low drag methyl ethel operator just a goober who dry fires 15 minutes a day. We see in the aftermath of mass shootings cowardice by suicide on the shooters part or giving up at the first contact with law enforcement. Psychologist could explain it better than I can but the psychosis of mass shooting events goes down upon discovery of Murphys law of combat that incoming fire has the right of way. I don't care if it's a Mini revolver or a HI point 9 when bad people discover extra holes in their flesh it makes quitting easier. Ammo is good more ammo is better. You are your own first responder. When seconds count the police are minutes away.

Get to the point. Don’t sugar coat it. I’m the same way locked and loaded 24/7. If there is a knock on the door my trusty nine is in my back belt.

I’ve always had a pistol but until Covid and the recent elections I rarely carried. It’s a rat day that I don’t now. I’ve taken it pretty serious and found practicing to be very enjoyable, expensive but I enjoyable. The sound of the bullet hitting those plates. I have two small 4 inch plates at 10 yards, one 8 inch at 25 yards and a homemade silhouette at 50 yards.

I’ve learned a lot. There’s a lot to more to be learned. These striker fires are different than the kimber 1911 I had.

I almost used my spyderco blade last week in a walmart parking lot preparing to exit my truck when I was approached by a complete moron. Kept door closed and knife by off side leg ready to throat punch his ass had he poked his head into the window opening.
He called the cops so I did as well, they schooled him on what self defense measures he almost encountered. Glad it didn't come down to that but, too old be fuggin around.

A couple of years ago walking my dog late afternoon I had a guy come up and it was obvious he was thinking about something. He mentioned my Boston. Which many people would but his comment was, how much you like that dog. I said more than you wanna find out. Had my pistol in my back pocket and from that day on I always did. He’d gotten pretty close in too.

I don’t go anywhere without my Case xx on my belt and a sig macro in an urban carry holster in my jeans. The only time I thought I might have to use it was off an I-40 exit near ft Smith AR/Ozark mountains exit. My buddy and I were coming from Oklahoma with a load of cows and stopped into a KFC to grab a quick bite to eat. The was a big blue gum holding the old lady worker with both hands when we walked in. She said “how nice for my 2 sons to come visit me today.” We took the hint, and made it a much better situation for that lady. Then we got the heck out of there

I get to feeling nervous when I don’t practice enough. Deer season and winter we go months without shooting. It’s time to shoot some now. And yes, be ready always.

First rule is avoid it by avoiding likely places. Second, Have a plan and know what you will do ahead of time. Under stress is not a time to expect your brain to function.

My opinion is point shooting a j-frame is the primary handgun for self-defense. Nothing is faster than pointing. You can have it in your hand in a pocket any time you want which means you get a head start on drawing. If it's cool enough for a jacket, you don't even have to draw.

A pistol is superior once you get it drawn, but if you're not a cop you can't go around pointing pistols at people if you aren't having to shoot.

Taran Butler multi time Ipsc world champion and gold medal winner trained Keanu for the John Wick role and yes Keanu can shoot.
