I bought a sawmill a couple months ago. Had to build a shed to put it under. Got it set up last week. Sawed my first log today. I was planning on this happening in a couple years, after we get our house built. A good friend of mine bought this mill in 2020, just never used it much. Hes been trying to sell it to me for two years. I finally just went on and got it around christmas. A little bit ahead of my plan but im sure itll come in handy. Heck, it did today. I was a few boards short getting the siding on my barn. Thats what i sawed today.

I have poplar board and batten on the house I'm building. It's some pretty stuff.

Congratulations!! That's great. Kinda ties right in with your business and house build, so that should work out splendid. It appears that God is smiling on you right now. He tends to do that for his faithful servants, that also work hard to be successful in other areas. thumbup

Dang skippie that’s awesome !! Takes practice but look like u got it figured out . I haven’t sawed much this winter but fired mine up sat and saw a big cedar . Friend was wanting 6 4x4 post for chicken pen . I got 6 post an 4 boards out one log . It’s addictive to me when u want lumber just saw it . Hell with lumber yard . My brother done the same thing . He got new Woodland Hills mill and cut poplar off his property and sawed enough to batten in his whole house . He let dry months first before he put up . Looks really good too

And you get all the lumber you want. I think it’s a great business decision. Now you can sell rough cut lumber. And looks like you got a decent area to dry wood.

Very nice. Now you just need to find someone in the tree industry that can supply a source of wood to you.

The interior of our house will be poplar, between the beams. We will have about 4" of the beams exposed with poplar between them. I have got some really pretty poplar.
