Got my email yesterday and got drawn! Didn’t get drawn last year so I’ve got to make some calls and hope I can still get permission to hunt my normal properties. I have heard that several have leased their land to outfitters so we’ll see. Anybody else get drawn?

I didn’t draw last year and got the one preference point. I was also in a group this year with one other guy and maybe that helped.

Only about a 60% success rate with no points. You better buy points to hunt deer or turkeys in Kansas now! Both my buddies who are outfitters out there had a lot of clients not draw. They will probably be requiring points for turkeys like they do deer now.

I didn’t know you could buy preference points. I thought like other states, you were awarded a point when you didn’t get drawn. How do you buy points? Can you buy more than one per year?

No, if you draw this year your points go to zero. And yes, you can buy points. I’m buying deer points this April for 2026.
