Go get the EFI Yamaha and thank me later.
I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.

Tohatsu's are good motors. I'm pretty sure Mercury also builds them. The problem with them, is how many Tohatsu dealers are in your area if you need a part or a fix? Last season I bought a new Merc 90 for my boat. I got a 4 year warranty with it, and they just sent me an application to extend the warranty for another 4 years for around $1500. There's more to buying a motor that just looking at the price. If you're looking for a new one, some dealers have scratch and dents or leftovers to sell. They all have the new warranty and are priced a grand or more cheaper. And by the way. No matter how long that engine has been sitting in someone's warehouse it is still considered a new motor. I know Merc stopped issuing serial numbers with the date stamp on them years ago, so that 2023 motor is still considered a 2025 if it's been sitting.

I think in small outboards Nissan/Tohatsu have probably been the best for maybe the last 30 years. I'm sure some of our resident coon asses will chime in but if you go down to Cajun country where people use the crap out of small outboards you'll find a lot of them. A 40hp Nissan/Tohatsu. on a setback jack plate appeared to be standard issue.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
