Any of y’all run a Tohatsu? I’ve always ran an Evinrude pretty much my whole life. I know people that run every major brand on the water, except Tohatsu. I don’t know anybody to get feedback from on that one. The one I’m looking at is new with a 5yr warranty.

Go get the EFI Yamaha and thank me later.

I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.

The Tahatsus are great motors. I don't know what size you are looking at, but they build the 25 and 30 horse Mercury 4 stroke, or did. I had an older one (1998) 2 stroke that you couldn't kill.

I think all the 30hp and under Nissan motors are actually Tohatsu

I've been running Tohatsu outboards for over 40 years. They are excellent engines in my opinion. I currently have a 50hp, 4-stroke, tiller-steer that I have had for ~6 years so far. Runs great and not a single problem so far - not one. I only use non-ethanol fuel in it. Unless their quality control has gone down since my last purchase, I don't see how you'd be disappointed if you got one... Check with Backwood's landing in Mooresville, AL - deal with Andy (owner). They always have had the best prices around - good people too.

Tohatsu's are good motors. I'm pretty sure Mercury also builds them. The problem with them, is how many Tohatsu dealers are in your area if you need a part or a fix? Last season I bought a new Merc 90 for my boat. I got a 4 year warranty with it, and they just sent me an application to extend the warranty for another 4 years for around $1500. There's more to buying a motor that just looking at the price. If you're looking for a new one, some dealers have scratch and dents or leftovers to sell. They all have the new warranty and are priced a grand or more cheaper. And by the way. No matter how long that engine has been sitting in someone's warehouse it is still considered a new motor. I know Merc stopped issuing serial numbers with the date stamp on them years ago, so that 2023 motor is still considered a 2025 if it's been sitting.

I think in small outboards Nissan/Tohatsu have probably been the best for maybe the last 30 years. I'm sure some of our resident coon asses will chime in but if you go down to Cajun country where people use the crap out of small outboards you'll find a lot of them. A 40hp Nissan/Tohatsu. on a setback jack plate appeared to be standard issue.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

This one was a demo model. It has 4 hrs. Never been titled so it has the 5 yr warranty that comes with it. It’s a 60hp tiller on an Alweld boat. All of it is brand new. I like the open floor in a boat because I have wife and 2 kids. I’m torn between this one and another low hour boat that’s in my other thread.
