Only a couple weeks left till season and I need to be drawing teams soon. However, we’ve only got enough signups for about four teams right now which is pretty pitiful. Y’all get in there and sign up!

I’d rather have 4 teams who actually hunt than 12 teams where 50% of the participants don’t. I think that’s why some have quit entering. I know it’s all for fun and annual bragging rights, but it’s hard to knock off a team of killers when the other teams are randomly drawn.

I mean you’re not wrong. It just sucks to see how much signups have declined just in the last 4-5 years.

Main reason I don’t sign up anymore,I wish it was Alabama birds only, hard to beat a team with out of state hunters because they can enter as many birds as they want

Bama birds are bigger than 90% of Merriams and a lot of rios. But the best rule change was a team can kill 18 total so if you kill 1-4 bama birds your good as long as you have someone who kills more than 4 which chances are pretty good with a mix of people hunting multiple states etc

I stopped for two reasons I guess. 1) tried to stop putting kill pics in the interwebs 2) always got on a team with a guy who’s first post ever was in the signup thread - which I see one already. The fun is kinda knowing the members on your team. And those low post guys usually disappear……

I like doing it because I have met some good folks that I share hunting stories with year round. Never would have met/talked to them if it were not for the competitions.

The baiting ruined it. To easy to get a bird. The hunt still happens but not like it used to be. They are patterned to the area.

I'd like to see some of the killers who used to be in the contest come back. Took me 10 years to finally draw a winning team, then half the good competition stopped signing up.

Hell, I'd be ok with letting teams pick themselves. We ain't scared of a little competition.

I had signed up as an alternate, due to a recent reconstructed knee. But I've been given the all clear, so I'm in. Now to find a few dumb one, so maybe I can get luck on a couple. I've never been on a winning team, but its been fun trying.

48 hours to enter a kill would be nice. People that waited weeks to enter a bird at the last minute put a damper on the contest to me.

Good luck guys. After what happened to me after signing up for the deer contest this year there is no way I'm getting near this. I hope you boys have a great contest.

My current theory is that if I put my name down a highly contagious variant of the bird flu will appear on every property I hunt and kill every adult male turkey.

It’s not my favorite but these city folks are paying too much for me to hunt em like I used to. I’m a scout until the next hunter rolls in. I put folks on some good hunts though. Whether they can seal the deal or not. Turkey hunting is a 1 man game if you’re serious about killing

Or just give the winning team a chance to 3peat. After 3 wins in a row everybody gets put back in the draw.

You can add me if you need someone but I hate to sign up because I know realistically I won’t contribute much. I’ve yet to kill my first turkey. This will be my 3rd year on public land. I did miss one last year
