Looking for a used 4Runner . Which dealership in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham would you recommend?

When my daughter wanted a specific one we reached out to a friend that works at Hendricks in Hoover. They found the one she wanted in North Carolina within 30 mins. She picked it up 2 days later in Hoover.

I would get on line first and search until you find what you want at the price you want. Then call the dealership.

Go to the Sonic Automotive website; you can search their inventory all over the country. They own over 100 car dealerships.

I bought a new 4Runner in 2017 from Hoover Toyota. Had by far the largest selection of 4Runners in the state and the prices were good. Also had a hassle free experience which was what I was looking for. Don’t know how many used 4Runners they have but you can go on line and check for yourself.

Practically 0 on the lot. Wasn’t necessarily looking for 4Runners, but I don’t remember seeing any. My wife and I went to look yesterday. Good lord at the prices on new and used vehicles. Makes me want to puke. Hard to fathom $40-50K on a lightly used mid size suv. Some are way over that.

No kidding. Last time I got my 4Runner serviced. I took a walk thru the lot looking at new Tundras. Seems like all the new Tundras are some kind of special edition. Stopped at one that was $83,000!! The good news was is was marked down from $83,500. thumbup

Bought from Sand Mountain Toyota in 2017 and was a great experience. Used to have it serviced at Tuscaloosa Toyota and won't step foot in that place for any reason whatsoever, so there's that. The service folks stole money (couple bucks in change) that was left in the car and then found where they spit pistachio hulls under the back seat. Called the dealership about the missing money and they blew it off. Called back when the next day I found the hulls and was told they were firing him for that. He was the only tech that serviced the car so it was difficult to fathom not firing him for the theft, but for the pistachio hulls. That said, never had a problem with Hoover Toyota. Great folks at that dealership.

So let’s say you got $20K to put down/trade or whatever. You’re still looking at an 8 or $900 payment if I had to bet. That’s more than my first house payment. I don’t make a killing between 2 jobs, but do ok. I can’t imagine paying that right now for a car. Could I afford it? Yeah. Lots of other things I’d rather do with that amount of money though that would be a much better investment instead of buying something that depreciates quickly.

We have a 2018 Ram 1500, a 2022 Mazda CX-5 and a 2013 Jeep Rubicon. I'm 64 and I hope we never have to buy another vehicle.

Automobiles are one of the worst investments you can make after a boat or a camper. They all know you need a vehicle and they all feel like they have you over a barrel, then when you have to sell it, or God forbid, trade it in, it ain't worth pennies on the dollar.

Every business plan out there is designed to have you on the payment plan until the day you die...

I bought a 21 Tundra from Limbaugh a year ago. They were good to deal with. Good luck

Used, find you someone that does auctions, if you can't find one, PM me, and I'll give you my local number in Montgomery.

I’m gonna make a suggestion. I’ve owned a 4Runner and now own a 2019 Lexus GX460. I would look at a low miles used 460 before totally committing to a 4Runner. It is much nicer and way more comfortable than the 2019 4Runner I owned. The Toyotas get terrible gas mileage and compared to the V8 in the 460 it’s very comparable. The prices on used 460’s may have gone through the roof but when I traded they were very comparable in price.

Last year for the V6 I believe is 2024 so you’re probably going to pay a premium for a low miles 4Runner (not sure if that’s what you’re looking for or not). I picked up a 2021 Tundra from Drivers Way last summer. Low miles, last year of the V8. You may be better served to look online everywhere, not just Toyota dealerships. Tuscaloosa and Birmingham only is going to limit you.

Agree. Considering they just changed the body style on the Lexus GX, you can probably find the old style for cheaper now. That V8 is stout and it will last. They’re all 4wd too.

I would think the Toyota Highlander would be more comparable to the Lexus as far as the ride.
