In general, how is the deer and turkey hunting and population in the central part of the county? Private or public up towards the national forest. Outlaws etc. Any kind of insight would be appreciated

These guys are right. Poor deer habitat & soils, outlaws, hunting pressure. I grew up hunting that area.

Appreciate the responses. Is it atleast pretty, clean. How safe is the area? Compared to say Macoon Co and Russell and Lee?

I hunted several areas in the county. Never saw any deer sign that kept me from driving to Missouri. But turkey numbers were good... as were the outlaws. Just because it is Forest Service land and marked doesn't mean the locals won't drive all over it. Frustrating when hiking back miles to get to a spot when Bubba just drives his SXS or Toyota past you. Personally I ran into less problems on the WMAs where more people followed the rules.
