Reckon that may be Odd Fellows? There used to be a fraternal order by that name. At one time was one of the largest in the world, haven't heard of them in years though.

I remember being in Worchester, MA and just walking around the town exploring. I came upon this old gothic style building that looked like something out of the Munsters or the Adams Family. It was boarded up and some of the windows were broke. It was dark, cloudy, and the building was painted various shades of gray and black. I remember thinking "If this ain't a haunted house, it missed a golden opportunity..."

I get around to the front of the place and above the main arched opening in the wrap around porch was a large marquee that read "The Odd Fellows Home."

Of course I stood there for a minute contemplating it, "What an odd thing." I had never heard of The Odd Fellows and figured it had to be some kind of fraternity.

Found it!

This is one I came across while tracking in Oak Bowery from the early 1800's.......I guess it would have been some of the first folks in this area......not sure.

In 1821 Alabama was still quite the frontier.

There should be a really old cemetery or two around Guntersville , it was settled around 1785. There's some really old ones around Woodville , as it's one of the older settlements in NA that's not along the Tennessee River. Some of my kin settled in what is now Woodville well before Alabama got it's statehood.

I wonder how many graves that were old enough to only marked with a stone or wooden cross are underneath the backwaters of Lake Guntersville now.
