Posted this in the trapping forum but I thought you guys might enjoy a funny story: "My Blue Healer has just about eradicated every one of them from around my house. Funny story time: Coaching staff would eat at the Mexican restaurant every Thursday to finish out our week in the summers. I was finishing mowing the game field and told them my order and that I was on my way. Putting the mower up I caught an opossum by the tail. Now everyday we raced back to the Field House every day after the meal to be the 1st one to the Coach's Toilet, AKA the Super Bowl. I told the boys let one of the other young coaches win today but didnt say why. He was so happy laughing like a school girl claiming his 1st victory to the "Thrown" that day. We rush in but I didnt tell them why. A few minutes go by with no commotion then all hell breaks loose. The possum was in a box of soap right by the toilet and as my buddy was reading the paper and doing his business the Possum sticks its head out and starts hissing. He is screaming and all we can hear is that school toilet paper dispenser rolling out paper at warp speed. He is screaming for help so I go in and he is standing in the shower with the curtain pulled shut wiping his tail. Only his head was poking out to keep an eye on the critter. Im laughing so hard I couldnt explain what was going on. All the coaches are cracking up without fully knowing what went down until he screams there is #$%$%^@$%^$# possum trying to attack me while I shit! They immediately knew I set ole boy up. I caught the possum and put it in a box and turned it loose in the park across the road. Ahhh Good times." rofl

Years ago I worked the 3-11 shift at Hanna Steel in Northport. They had the back wall down on the plant for an expansion and me and another guy caught a big ol’ possum one evening. We put it in the plant superintendents office and all hell broke loose the next morning when he showed up for work. They never did figure out how that possum got in his office. 😆

We used to catch them and put one in certain folks mailboxes. Bend the latch enough to hold them. Never did get to see on get opened but heard tails. 😅😂😂

We have a pet "opossum" that hangs around the house. He hangs around our bird feeders - I assume he is eating the seeds that fall to the ground. He's ugly as sin, but I like watching him waddle to a tree to get away from me. It has almost become a game to both of us. He'll climb a small oak near the house and hang out on a limb about 9-10 feet off the ground and look at me while I talk to him. It always gives my wife a good laugh to watch us. ![[Linked Image]](https://ngrrec-wtdi-wordpress-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/17111321/OpossumTickMeme.jpeg)

I've been feeding a big one on my back deck for about a week now. Tuesday evening I eased out there with him and he was kind of cornered. He hissed and growled for a few minutes. I eventually reached out a scratched him on top of the head and behind the ears. He kind of leaned in to it like a cat. I'm going to try and pick him up this weekend. My wife was watching me pet him and asked what I was going to do if he clamped on to me? I said I was going to throw him to her and she could throw him out in the yard...lol

I got a possum story, My first job out of HS was at the big lumber mill in Brewton working in maintenance. The railroad labor crew had and old shack outside of the shop. The bathroom in the shop had old wooden sinks for hand washing. I walk in to wash up and Ole LT the head of the Labor crew was scrubbing something black in the sink, I thought to myself, Oh my God he is scrubbing a baby in here. Turned out he had trapped a possum in one of the shop garbage cans and singed the hair of it and was scrubbing it down. He gutted it and cut up in big chunks, wrapped in tin foil and put it on the pot belly stove in the labor shack to cook. I went out at lunch and tried a small piece and knew then that a possum cooked with soul is nasty azzed eating or no count.

We had a few cats growing up, our cats would just sit there and watch the possums eat their food. That was after my old squirrel dog died. He kept them run off.
