If you get a job that requires you to go onto secure sites that requires drug tests, background checks, badging, going through security gates, etc. etc. carrying your pistol inside the plant with you probably is not a good idea. Showing it is even a worse idea. I don’t care if you’re a concealed carrier, leave it in the truck. Stupidity is rampant these days. That made for some fun weekend phone calls and Monday morning meetings.

I see your point but the only person responsible for me is me. No amount of security or gates badge ins background checks is going to stop a bad person from doing bad. The .45 acp with the 185 grain Nosler hollowpoints are stronger than any HR policy. Stupidity is rampant which is why spare magazines are important.

Skinny is my EX.Alcohol was involved.

Lots of these sites are military bases. I’ve had crews held at gunpoint because they got chosen for a random vehicle search and a water pistol was found. Thankfully this was an industrial plant. I agree with your thoughts on protecting yourself, but as I mentioned above, don’t pull out your pistol just to show someone.

I'm a big supporter of the 2nd Amendment, but the class requirement that we used to have in TX for concealed license was informative. You clearly got told where you would be committing a felony if you carried a firearm: Bar, Polling Place, Secured part of Police station, Court, School event, Amusement park, etc...

That being said, the one thing not covered was a prison. Obviously, inside the prison, "yes", but what about leaving it in the vehicle? I had a loved one doing some time and would visit about once a month. I didn't like the idea of even passing a gate with a pistol in my vehicle. Once you step foot on the property, you are subject to search.

People have unexpected ideas about guns. Like most things, they don't see the big picture. When I was working through college I had a gig in corporate security. I have always been a gun nut, which means selling and buying. It amazed me how office workers paid no mind to me showing a prospective buyer a gun. It's like they thought a security guard showing off his 8" .44 magnum was normal. If I came around the corner and saw that I'd hit reverse in a hurry.
