Thank God I don't need a woman to cook for me, although there are other benefits that I'm starting to miss about now... grin

Mrs. Irish left Wednesday and is gone to visit her buddy Karen in Indiana until Saturday when we have a big party to go to. It's hard sometimes to cook for just one person, but here at Camp Little Ridge we persevere.

Nice breakfast to get the day started. I worked out pretty hard on Wednesday and despite my advanced age, I'm getting close to a few personal bests in the weight room now, so I can eat pretty much whatever I want within reason.

Scrambled fresh eggs from our buddies just up the dirt road, grilled tomatoes, real hashbrowns, thick bacon and sliced and toasted real butter croissants "wimp rolls." grin

I needed to get something productive done so when Mrs. Irish comes back home it won't look like I've been sitting around all day in my underwear drinking beer. Our compost bin has seen better days and is falling apart, so yesterday was the day to get something done. Projects like this are fun, because I used all recycled lumber from the Camp Little Ridge scrap lumber wood pile and I even used recycled deck screws from another dismantled project. SO the "new" compost bin cost me $0. Not bad and fun figuring out how to design it and build it with just leftover stuff laying around...

Decided to get a shower and head into town got get a few things and went by the liquor store. I decided to try something different and this turned out pretty good...

After a few cold beers and a couple of shots of Irish whiskey, I needed something on my belly and briefly considered a grilled cheese, but I plundered the deep freeze and found this fat, organic, grass fed sirloin that had my name written all over it. It's like a little roast. So I got that thawed, found some asparagus from the Section, AL Amish market, that looked like it would go well with it, and i decided to roast some potatoes with it as well. I tossed the potatoes in olive oil and seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder, threw them in the oven, seasoned the steak with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and red pepper flakes, seasoned the asparagus with lemon pepper and sauteed them in olive oil. The steak I cooked in one of Granny's old skillets and finished it with butter, garlic and thyme from the herb garden.

One of the best sirloin steaks I have ever eaten. Flavor was off the chain and it was more tender than a lot of Fillet Mignon that I have had.

I'm so lonely, I'm thinking about inviting our massage therapist and her husband over for dinner and drinks tonight.

I'm honestly quite surprised that no one has mentioned my choice of beverage being Natural Light... Being the connoisseur of fine alcohol that I am...

i like that first beer in the morning right after you brush your teeth. Or in your case "tooth." grin

I've been trying to drink more light beers as the weather warms up and have been drinking Modelo Oro. It's good. Light. And not too offensive, with a very neutral and refreshing taste. i throw a lime squeeze in there and a pinch of Celtic sea salt to make it better.

Well... fast forward to Cinco De Mayo on Monday night, we were up at Limon's in Henagar with some friends for the festivities, and we saddled up to the bar while waiting on our table. Well, all they were serving at the outer bar was draft beer and pre-mix margaritas. So we got the girls some ritas and the guys got draft beer. The only draft they had was Natty Light. I threw a lime and a pinch of salt in mine and it tasted better than the Modelos I had been drinking. So I stopped by Dollar General yesterday and picked up 15 of them for $9. I hope nobody else finds out about Natty Light... Cheap, light and refreshing, 95 calories and 4.2% alcohol. What's not to love...

You live in a mini-mansion and I live in an 1100sf cabin that I built myself on a dirt road.

At least I'm not trying to be some kind of fake online character and just being my real self...
