Yep, but imagine if the state weren't in the liquor business and some politician suggested they get into it..........they'd be run out of town on a rail. But since they already are, those same people that would be aghast at the idea of it don't even bat an eye

I can tell you Tennesse makes it up with a 7% tax on vehicle sales. I got blindsided by those bastages. The tax % on a major purchase in TN was more than anything at Wal-mart just across the state line in Hazel Green. 7% vs. 5.5%

Mississippi needs to give people a reason to move there. I just came back from a four day turkey hunt in rural Mississippi and oh my goodness. Apologies in advance to anyone that lives there now or is from there but what a dump. Some of the nastiest gas stations I have ever seen. Talk about food deserts, I was in Holly Springs which is a fairly large town and the ONLY restaurant other than fast food for dinner was a new Mexican restaurant that was decent.

I’ll trade ….no state income tax for higher property tax. Income tax…applies to every dime you ever make. 5% here of everything. Try living in Texas and pay their wealth tax on property. I lived on both sides of the fence. I'll take the Alabama state income tax any day over Texas property taxes.

When I lived in Texas my property tax was as much or more than my monthly mortgage.
