Due to the legalization of baiting deer, baiting turkeys is just about to get out of hand.

Are we raising a generation of turkey hunters to think shooting one over a pile of corn, milo, or wheat is how you do it?

It's my fear that this practice will become socially acceptable in the not to distant future.

Yall be rtah spend some time in south texas..,they think the southern turkey hunter and his infatuation with turkey hunting is the silliest thing they have ever heard. They’re like…you mean you callem up…we just corn a road an try to see if we can line up our limit an killem in one shot with a 22-250…or just throw rocks atem to keepem out the corn…yall do know that there is a buncha counties out there were the season is only closed like..4 months out of the year…i was in frio county an season closed in may..reopened again in like September an didnt close again til like February…an you could just annihilate them with a rifle…all in one day if you wanted…turkeys exist at all out there because the habitat is some of the best on the planet..an locals could not give to poots if they lived or died…far as they are concerned they might as well be a crow

Whatever. I could think of nothing more boring than sitting over bait to kill a silent turkey.

The best thing we could do for the sport is to stop making it a cool thing to do. I don’t post any deer or turkey pictures on social media anymore or here or anywhere else. I send my pictures to a select few old friends via text that feel the same way as I do and that is the extent of it. I am not looking for any kind of recognition or trying to stroke my ego; I wish others would do the same. I do it for the love of the game; whatever you do is up to you, but the best thing to do is to keep it quiet. All of it. I would be overjoyed if everyone quit hunting tomorrow except me and I would tell them that I quit hunting too!
