Coming soon to a road near you. About to be implemented in Kaliforniastan...

https://abc7.com/post/california-looks-eliminate-gas-tax-replace-road-charge-program/16063939/

You know you would think at some point the government would just let up on you a little bit and once you reach a certain age and have been working and paying taxes your whole life that you could just own your land, own your house, own your car and drive to the store and buy stuff, without having to pay a tax on every, single *&^%$#ing thing you do or own...

It's like a drug addiction, California has the worst habit in the country.

Amazon and Walmart are lobbying against it for obvious reasons. Gavin Newsome is being slammed by CNN now so I bet it doesn't happen. Plus, the tech folks have already come up with GPS spoofers and hacks to get around it. California will have to find other ways to pay for their crappy roads.

Mrs. Irish and I can just stay at home and what we don't grow or kill ourselves, just delivered from Amazon and Walmart.

It was under the guise of EVs not laying their fair share to build and maintain roads.
It’s really about more control, you pay and we will provide ideology.

Yup. NYC just tried the "congestion tax" and Trump put an end to that mess. Those roads and bridges going into Manhattan are Federal first. California seems to forget that part of the equation. We here in Crenshaw county are made aware of that fact daily because every main road in the county is Federal first, then state, then county, then last municipalities. The potholes to asphalt ratio confirms that fact daily. laugh Our Federal roads are not bad, ....the county roads..welll thats another matter.

California is about 20 or 30 years ahead of everybody else with the dumbest fucking ideas on the face of the earth. So by the time Alabama gets to it we will all be too old to drive

I would think when you file your income taxes they will want your mileage at the beginning of the year and your mileage at the end of the year on your tax returns. If you lie about it, it would eventually catch up with you one way or another.

I have a lot of off road miles running around job sites and my property
. They would have to allow a deduction

It dont work anything like that now. You have to write it down but theres no actual proof of any kind. I figure theyll be wanting to use the gps on our phones for something like this. I doubt it would be too hard to calculate. The info is already there. They just have to collect it and send you a bill for every mile you traveled in the road. I wonder if its for drivers only?

Hell I’m too old now. Blind as a bat. I have a fuse 1 mm short. Dale Sr would be proud of me. I will draft your ass and put you in a ditch.

California has some of the worst roads in the country too. I believe the info about how much the taxes is, is severely underestimated. I pay atleast 1.50-2.00 more per gallon in California than in bama.

I had two vehicles when I wrote off a lot of miles. Made it easy to keep up with.

The last time I wrote off miles I just logged days I drove for my side hustle, it correlated with obvious days I was contracted for work
