Start killing! I’m fortunate enough that I can go a lot of mornings this time of year.

Same story for me, heard one bird gobble 1x time Saturday and that was it. Took yesterday off, but back at em this morning. One of my buddies is showing some compassion this morning and taking me to his place. I got until about 8:00 to make something happen. I washed my clothes, changed hats, and shoes lol.

I got one gobble out of a bird at 6:56. He was over half a mile down a big Mt and up an even bigger Mt. I’ve got to go burn so he gets a pass this morning. Or maybe I’m getting the pass. If have earned him if I pursued.

We heard prob 6-8 birds. Only 2 were within workable distance. Played with them but we never came close to killing one. I just hope I get to go back.

Another silent morning for me before work. There’s a ton of sign still in there, so I’m hoping to try it one evening this week and see what happens, but the agony of defeat is getting heavier.

Heard more birds gobble this morning in AL than my best morning I’ve ever had in TX. Despite that, none of them are dead, nor did we even get close. Every bird acted as if calling was the devil. This place has been hunted opening weekend and that’s it. Don’t make sense the way birds are acting.

Kids out of school tomorrow so I’m gonna see if I can drop them off with their grandparents before daylight and hunt. Haven’t heard a bird on our place since I killed that one though. If I don’t hear one tomorrow I’ll likely hit my old public hole on Saturday and hope for some action.

Gents, my season is about done here. I started out strong and it looked like it was going to be a banner season. Since the first week of season I’ve not even been in a single game with one turkey, and they’re everywhere. I’ve taken a friend and my son several mornings and failed for it all to come together. I’ve not missed but a handful of mornings in the woods all season. I can’t and won’t complain because I’ve heard a lot of gobbling birds. It’s been great, but challenging to deal the deal. I leave for SD and NE in a few days. Maybe that’ll result in some fun hunts.

Now that I’m cleared to hunt it seems the fat lady’s warming up. My luck, but I’m at em. Hunted some private in Elmore county with a buddy yesterday - silence. Hunted Macon co today, heard one gobble and pushed what seemed like a marathon (a hair over a half mile) to get to the field i thought he was in and sure nuff he was , along with 8-10 hens. I couldn’t call him off them. I have obligations tomorrow but the shit show will continue in south Montgomery county Saturday. Going with a good buddy of mine, Johnny Broadways son who is also in a wheelchair, so I’m sure I’ll have some kind of a story out of it

Good sale going on at Reynolds. 40% off of all turkey calls and 50% off turkey apparel (this 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 to me to mean light weight camo)
