So my reading comp is bad..is sec 2b saying that leo's (retired or active) can have blacked out vehicles? Yep, they exempted themselves. Nice of them, huh? Sounds just like our US congress. "Rules for the thee but not for me."

The idiots around here have started tinting their freaking windshields too.............I'm 100% for ticketing those morons (along with the squatters)
As someone who struggles with bright light, I would love to have a tinted front window. I talked to the state about a medical exemption, and they said pretty much no exception unless you have a skin condition. I need corrective lenses, and I don't care what kind of transition lense you get, they don't tint in a vehicle. A nice pair of good glasses sets me back $600. I can wear mono vision contacts, and use sunglasses, however, I can't see well enough for office work with those one. I tried a pair of progressive contacts, great from 0-12 feet, and then beyond that, it was a little fuzzy. They were horrible at night, every light looked like a giant snowflake. And I am tired of taking glasses on and off while hunting. I have finally settled on wearing mono vision contacts when I am not working. It's not pefect, its a little tough to string fishing line. I'd rather spend $150 tinting my front window than $600 every year on a good pair of prescription sunglasses. A tinted windshield is a safety hazard, plain and simple. I have near-20/20 vision, and the side windows on my truck are the factory tint (legal) and when it's dark (and especially raining), they're not exactly easy to see out of. I can't imagine trying to drive safely with that across the windshield too. I'm nowhere near 20 20 vision and hate trying to drive a vehicle with tinted side windows at night.

I can't imagine trying to drive safely with that across the windshield too. Its no more a safety hazzard than being blinded by these super bright LED headlights now. Not to mention it seems like everyone that doesn't have LED headlights drives around with their high beams on. At least around Bham. My tint on my truck is limo dark on the back and sides, and not legal on passenger/driver doors. If you see my truck in bright sun, it looks totally legal, but if you are at an off angle, it looks really dark. My son just put new tint on all the windows on his Mustang. It's pretty sweet looking.

Most departments really donāt fool with window tint. Kinda like inspection stickers. However it can be used as probable cause to warrant a traffic stop if thereās suspicion of other illegal activities. The only thing I usually ask as I approach a vehicle is to roll the front and rear drivers side windows down so I can see if there are other occupants and or visible weapons in the vehicle. Of course where I work everyone has a weapon of some sort in the vehicle and we expect that and completely agree with them having it. Itās just a safety issue for everyone involved. Thankfully in my 25+ years Iāve never had an incident where any type of safety issue for either party involved. I hope to complete my time of service with that same record.

I hate those tinted out license plate covers Which are illegal BTW. I wrote many warnings for those while working on the ADECA Traffic grant. Also know that they don't have to be dark. Even the clear ones are illegal because they reflect light and can make reading a tag at night difficult. Apparently the tint LE exception was passed after I retired. I know a lot of officers wanted it but I wasn't one of them. I don't like the tint because I like light. I worked at night often and it was really hard to see at night with the tint. When I was assigned a car that had tinted windows I bitched and got the city to remove it. They didn't want to spend the money until I pointed out it was illegal and a lot of the other cars were driving around with illegal tint. I got it removed.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

When I had my Titan and then Frontier I had dark tinted passenger windows and were great during bright sunshine but hated them at night. Had to roll the windows down if backing a boat or trailer.
When my MIL lived in south Florida that wa tree first thing I noticed. All vehicles were tinted out. Had to they said otherwise the interior would fade bad.

(b) This section does not apply to any personal use vehicles belonging to, and occupied by, any active or retired state, local, or federal law enforcement officer.
So they pass this as a "safety" issue but put this bull doo doo in there. Are we to believe that retired law enforcement can see better at night than the average citizen? I would think, at least this part of it, could be struck down in court if it were presented to a judge who had common sense and was impartial like they should be.
The true mark of a man is not how he conducts himself during times of prosperity, but how he conducts himself during times of adversity.

Iāve always had a problem with that so-called professional courtesy deal I understand the reasoning for the dark tint on service vehicles
