Vacation day from work for Opening Day at the farm!!

The only sounds I’ve heard so far are a gun shot at 6:34 and two sickly sounding Hoot Flute players on the neighboring properties.

Welcome to Winston County!!! 🫠

I drove up to Winston co this am to give it a go on some private. It amazes me that turkeys can wake up on a morning like this and decide not to yell. Heck it’s so nice I wanna yell.

Negative. You’ll never know I’m around until I shoot. 😁

Just a joke…but, seriously, why do people feel the need to owl hoot 20 minutes before gobble time!?

I don’t get it either. About 95% of the birds I hear gobble are after I hear the first crow, which is after I can see. Ppl hit the woods owling every stop at 5:30.

Called up one for a client at 6:55. Put on a show, drummed and strutted up a storm.

I called it quits around 8am. Birds were just not doing it and I needed to get to work.

Not too shabby. I doubled up on a pair of 4yr old studs this morning. One had trophy hooks and the other had a ground dragging rope thick as your wrist so I had to choot ‘em both. . .with one shot.

*pro tip* let ‘em eat all the scratch feed before pulling the trigger 🦃

Set up 75 yards from one this morning watched him gobble strut on limb, first hen that hit the ground took him. It was great while it lasted. I’ll check him again tomorrow morning.
