First year of raising chickens, our eggs have a really fragile shell. just squeeze a little and they break. I feed them laying pellets and cracked corn. What is the problem. Calcium deficiency

We save most our egg shells. Bake, grind and feed them to your birds. Makes a big difference. Add a little dte and red pepper and it'll double as a parasite killer.

Oyster shells and if you are still buying eggs, feed them crushed up egg shells with your table scraps.

keep their water fresh, put some crushed oyster shells out, use 16% layer pellet (not 22% - we like the Ware Milling brand a lot - some people have seen problems with egg production/quality with the Tractor Supply pellet)
on scraps, we normally stick with greens & fruit - our egg shells have always been hard as a brick

Just feed them chicken crack. Randy Keef makes it. A lot of places carry it.

Just with the smell in the coop. Like Bamaguitardude said, use the 16% protein layer feed. We use it as well. Our birds layed eggs all through the winter. However, we feed our birds vegetable, fruit, and meat scraps when we have them. They love the shells and tails off shrimp and the leftovers from a crawfish boil.
