I just finished servicing my 2022 Yamaha Sho 150. I changed the fuel filter, water separator and oil. While letting it warm up to check the oil I noticed the fuel in the filter housing would fill up and drop out. It repeatedly did this while idling. It idle fine but I’ve never paid attention to see if that normal or not. Someone else told me it’s normal I just don’t want any issues when I head out tomorrow. In my mind I thought that filter would stay full while running. Any feedback is appreciated

Hevishot I believe is an outboard mechanic, he may be shooting turkeys though. Thanks, maybe he’ll chime in. I’ve never had any issues prior to the service but wanted to make sure because it just seemed odd to me.

Not knocking do it yourself guys but these new motors cost too much for me to put a wrench on them myself. The counterargument to that is that on many of the newer motors, most of the "maintenance" is relatively simple and unless you have a mechanic you really trust, DIY'ing it means knowing it was done "right". As with most things, most of it isn't especially "difficult"......the biggest thing is just having the time/place/equipment to do it.

Not knocking do it yourself guys but these new motors cost too much for me to put a wrench on them myself. I trust me way more than I trust some of the people that’s I see hired to change oils and filters at the dealerships. Been maintaining cars, trucks, heavy equipment and outboard for most of my life. I know when I do it it’s done the way I want. Do I wish I could make myself trust these people to do it right. Heck ya I do but I’ve seen and heard to many horror stories.
