Just read this. Pretty confident this is something Trump will take care of.

Wow that’s actually pretty insane. Crazy that their congresswoman and senator can’t even get an answer for them.

Yep! You are correct, I am very angry on their behalf.

Someone (or more) evidently needs a trip to the train station!

I also love how law enforcement in general loves to show up to things in full tactical gear. That’s just the icing on top. They love to play army even if it’s just grandma’s bird feeder violated city code.

Them sunny beaches..... Dept of the interior could be the culprit . Dudes it's too late to pull that on these good folks , shouldn't they have it by adverse possession ??? Heck it's been fenced since 1950 .

This story is a prime example for a lot of the stuff that people post on here. Everyone reads an article and just assumes it as the truth without fact checking it. There is a lot more to this story than what is posted in the link above.

A link in the comments states that the case is about an irrigation pivot and crops planted on FS land and they were told 4 years prior that installing the pivot would be trespassing on some federal grasslands. It’s not about a fence as the article makes it out to be. Very interesting deal here.

Maybe, he is referring to the other article( link) that the land owners were notified that the irrigation system would be trespassing if installed, this was 4 years before

And the pictures used are deceptive, and actually involves approximately 50 acres.

What I gathered from my research on the deal is this.

The fence is not built on the property line in some places due to terrain. The government has always treated the land on their side of the fence as theirs, and the landowners the same. When they wanted to build the irrigation system, it was going to irrigate their side of the fence, but the fence isn’t on the property line. The landowners tried to trade land for land but the government wouldn’t. They built the pivot anyways. And now they in jail.

That’s true. I guess the issue is that some of their land is also on the government side of the fence. And the government has been treating that like it’s theirs.

The government treats a good chunk of my money the same way.

My issue is that the gov't has had since prior to 1950 to address this problem and didn't. When the couple tried to work it out somehow that is when some gov't bureaucrat decides to deal with it by strongarming. "Just work it out" is what the administration should say right now.

I may be wrong but what I’m gathering from the article is the fence is the issue as you say. However if you read the links in the comments, it’s not the fence that’s the issue. It’s the pivot and crops that over extends the couples property and onto some Federal grasslands that the FS warned them about 4 years ago. Sounds to me like they were profiting off of crops that they were planting on federal lands with a permit or any kind of agreement with the feds. As I said above, I may be reading into it wrong.

The government hasn’t released the survey though, according to the article. And it does look like the gov has as much land as they have of the Govs.

I agree there may be more to the story but like they said, they could do a land for land exchange or something. If that solves it and the deal isn’t one sided, then that makes the most sense to me.

Always more to the story but regardless this is something that could've been worked out in the past 75 years.
