Was it hard stem or semi-soft? Semi-soft. It did look like something that would grow in a pond, but he came out of cutover and wasn't close to a pond. But it was 10 am when I got him, so no telling how much ground he had covered. I usually check if there's anything in them, but didn't remember seeing that much of a stem in one. He had access to all sorts of fertilized clover that I went to a lot of trouble and expense to grow for him, and he eats stems. Downright ungrateful. Rob, it was definitely his last supper, or maybe breakfast.

Potamogeton coloratus (fen pondweed) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potamogeton_coloratus#/media/File:Potamogeton_coloratus_(8405211888).jpg The link said that one grows in Europe, but it does look like something in that genus. I think adult turkeys can survive most anywhere because they are willing to eat most anything. The population size depends on poult production. Thanks for all the replies.

He had to eat that because judging by the pic, there's no Sunflower seeds or cracked corn for him to eat.

Looks like alligator grass to me. Grows on the edge of ponds and in wet areas.

Looks to me like it could be the same. I'm not sure the leaves match up. I should have made more pictures of mine.
