Looking for ideas on setting up my truck for a trip and camping out of the back.

I’m sure a few of you have done this, if you have suggestions or ideas I’d like to hear them

if you have any pics of your set up post em up. TIA

Theres a tent you can buy that fits the back of a pickup truck. I reckon that would be about as comfortably as you could be on a budget. That and a air matress

I have a camper shell, I was just wondering if anyone had built a platform for a bed and drawer set up

I used to live out of mine in turkey season.. i have a cot and a good pillow and sleeping bag…i sleep like a baby…i will say, there are some good upgrades like insulating with foam board and sealing it up good and tight, or else you will get cold. I am going to build a small frame and have me some slide outs under it for camping tho, way better options matress wise…but, i got a nice leer camper shell on my tundra and i will never own another vehicle without a camper shell because i can live out of it comfortably with no issues…i did have a little baby camper i built…i tried to sell it to yall …but noooooo…yall just made fun of carbon…now a police over the road has it and they love it..they drag that thing everywhere

I did this way back using a raised frame and plastic storage bins that fit underneath. The frame had a plywood top in two parts so one would lift and slide on to the other exposing half of the storage containers. The end was open and the containers were linked together with a coupling so that you could pull them out without having to take the plywood off. Had a folding table on top and chairs. Simple matter of dropping the tailgate, setting up table and chairs, then pulling out the containers. Stack them to the side, add air mattress when bed time.

If I'm gonna be scouting and covering ground, I put my softopper on my Tacoma and sleep in mine on my scouting trips. Typically 4-7 nights. If cold weather, I throw a moving blanket on the truck bed as an insulator then, I use a sleeping pad and a 4'' piece of soft foam. I either carry my 30 degree bag or my 0 degree bag to sleep in. Headed up soon with a 'lil more than 30 cams to hopefully put out and will be using the softopper. They make some tents that are very simple to put up and use.
