Smoking is legal in the United States. Yet companies all over are forcing people to not smoke while on their premises. Some won't hire a smoker.
How long before these same places try to ask you if you own guns before hiring or after hiring?
Most already prohibit bringing them on the property, how long before they just won't hire you if you own one?
I can see a lot of debate on that issue.

My guess is that it will come down to some kind of law that prohibits private companies or corporations from drug testing employees. If the gubberment cant then private companies cant.

Some companies are not hiring if you have nicotine show up in your pre-hiring drug screening, or if they do hire you then your insurance costs may be greater.
So even if you're not a smoker and use snuff or chew, they're starting to look for it.
Firearms will be coming soon, I have no doubt. If they are asking for Facebook passwords and ignorant sheeple are giving up those freely, they won't see any problem asking for a list of your firearms or whether you own them or are a hunter.

Correlations between lifestyles (drinking, unhealthy diets, smoking, etc) and medical costs (ultimately to insurance) will force constraints upon employers, IMO. Is it right?
If my profit margin suffers because I have a bunch of fat smokers who drink heavily, then I might consider a different health insurance plan for them - or let them pay for their plans.

Exactly.
Why should you, the company, subsidize unhealthy lifestyles at the same rate as someone who takes care of their body-mind?

Ofcourse, why should employers even buy health insurance for employees? I wish I could buy my own health insurance.

Exactly. Who wouldn't want the same medical coverage as a illegal that's not even supposed to be here! Or a leech on society that sits around waiting on a check. Why work? Uncle Obama take care of us. You think his family will be on this great plan? Anybody else hear trumpets warming up?

The next time a crane operator kills a bunch of people b/c he was on drugs will take care of that problem. Drug testing isn't going away and it shouldn't!
Smoking is a totally different issue. If you have two companies of 100 employees each. One, there's a zero % smoking percentage. The other, there's a 30% smoking percentage. The 30% smoking company will have higher healthcare costs than the zero percent company. Why is it "right" to ask the 70% of the non smoking employees to pay higher healthcare (insurance rates) b/c of the 30% of smokers/coworkers? Again, the question stands, what happens when they deem gun owners are a higher risk? What then?
