Since you sell (and probably service) compounds, maybe you can answer my question. Do you think the draw-lock would cause harm to a compound bow? IMO I don't see any technical issue with it. I personally would rather use a crossbow than try to manage a compound bow at full draw and stuck there. The issue I see is safety. You need to have an arrow in there immediately after setting it so you won't accidently dry fire it. But then you’re walking around, or sitting there with a loaded bow ready to shoot. With the Bow-Loc, it's safe to assume your "differently abled" or have issues that may prevent you from using a bow normally. So now you sit in the stand with a loaded and full draw bow and have no success. Now you have to release the bow, what do you do? Thump a stump and most likely damage an arrow? Dry fire? Or, try to ride the string back after its release? If I need a Draw-Loc, I don't think I'd have the ability to safely ride the string back (you use 2 hands to draw it and lock it - locks onto the string automatically; but you have to hold the string with one hand and release the trigger with the other). Crossbows at least have safety features and you can get special bolts used for releasing the string without dry firing it. I understand its purpose and why it was invented, I just don't see its practicality. I don't see a reason for using it that wouldn't be easier to solve with a crossbow. Now there is a legal difference that some states have and I actually have not looked at in Alabama. Some states see a crossbow as a "firearm" and is not allowed during archery season. So the Draw-Loc would give an individual who isn't able to use a bow successfully under normal circumstances to still get out into the woods during archery season. But to get back to your question: I don't see a serious issue with it technically; even though I don't have the warm fuzzy feeling about it myself. The three major bow companies I have talked to about it say it's OK if it's set up right and not left there for extended periods of time or during extreme temperature changes.

No response from Draw-Loc yet on which states and/or how many.

OK, I did some more research and here is something interesting. Jerry Goff shows how to release the bow if you don't shoot. I still don't have a warm fuzzy about it, but does answer some of my questions. Jerry Goff shows the Draw-Loc attachment

With crossbows being legal here, it would make sense that the Draw-Loc would fall under a crossbow style of law.
Because they are two different weapons.
Crossbows are built to hold, at tension, the cable locked in place to release the limbs.
Compounds are built to hold momentarily and then release.
I mean, again, the bottom-line question is if you cannot hold a compound bow at full draw or draw one to hold it ... why use this instead of just using a crossbow designed for this specific purpose? With the Draw-Loc all you are doing is creating a vertical crossbow.
Bravo to capitalism and innovation. Glad for the dude who came up with it. But either shoot a compound bow the way it's intended or use a crossbow.

Bought it from Jerry Goff the first time he came to the Advisory Board meeting several years ago. I think it might have contributed to a crack in the limbs at the notch for the pulleys, not sure about that. They are pretty simple to "unload". You release the rod at the riser hand grip and let the draw down, never release the string, just let it come down slowly. One of the aldeer members down around chelsea contacted me a couple of times wanting to buy mine but I think he really wanted me to give it to him. I still have it on the wall with some of my old bows.
