Hey folks, a group of friends and myself are heading down to Bankhead for our 2nd annual porkchop tour. We got skunked last year, we did hear some, but no visuals. We are planning on hunting the north end of the national forest this year for 4 days. Any pointers would be appreciated, I don't want to know where your hunny hole is, just some common trends on the Bankhead property. We put in a lot of boot leather last year. We started our days in creek bottoms looking for fresh sign and them moved up in elevation from there. We didn't see any, but saw enough sign we figured it warranted a second trip.

If you are coming this weekend get ready for cold, snow, and wind. Highs in the 30's lows in low 20's

Oh, and PM Matt Brock on here. He's an area biologist and will help you out.

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely PM Mr. Brock. We are headed down mid march. I live about 1/2 hr from the Michigan line, so by this time of year 30 degrees and up feels pretty warm. Not for tent camping though so hopefully it warms up over the next few weeks a little bit.

The hogs that I have seen right now are on top of the ridges feeding on the remaining acorns that are left.

I'll be there Saturday mainly to scout and hopefully get a good shot on a few.. Then I am going back Wed-Sunday. Anyone can feel free to PM me and I'll share whatever info I know or join for a hunt.

I will be logging in at least 4 or 5 miles everyday though so bring your good hiking boots! smile
