All safer stands then the old cougar claw I started with. The one with the dove stool mounted to the platform had to hold the top because it just had two bars coming off the tree
We will burn that bridge when we get there

That one leaning on the far left looks like an old Baker folding stand--hug the tree on the way up (only sissies paid extra for the hand climber). Once you got up the tree you slipped your feet out of the elastic, turned around, and sat down on the same platform, with your legs hanging over the side. For safety you might use a waist belt. That was my first climbing stand, about 35 years ago. Shot a buck the first time up it. Today I couldn't do that turn-around sit-down move with it a foot off the ground. Back then my gonads were bigger than my brain. Lol that's the same way mine was.

They looked like the first one I ever used. Made it myself. Climbed over 20 ft up many of times. Looking back now, ain't NO WIH I'd use one now.

What are you talking about not safe? Those things were designed by the top graudates from Auburn U's mechanical engineering department in conjunction with their Materials Engineering department! NICK: No, they were designed by Cam Newton's father, and he originally was asking $180,000 for them.

my first climber was one of those and I took the fast elevator down the first time i used it.
stepped too far back and down it went. The seat still up in the darn tree. Took me 20 years to EVER use a climber again....scared me so bad. Lucky I didnt die!
I didnt ever use another climber until my wife got me one of those Summits that folded up flat as a present. She didnt know better. I was still scared the first few time using IT.

We use them for lockons. All you need to do is get some climbing sticks and you are set.
