Well I'm on my way home from Kansas with a tag still in my pocket. Weather for the most part was great and deer movement was good. I hunted with iron gate lodge in Oswego, ks. They run a first class laid back atmosphere and they truly work their butt off to put you in position to kill a deer. My father in law missed about a160" 11 point with his crossbow and I chased a giant 9 point most of the week. We shared camp with Jerry Klamer from the bucket list outdoor show and he killed a giant 260 pound chocolate horned 8 point that had a broke off brow tine that was rough scored at 139 as a 7point. The food was great and just a wonderful experience. When I say I was close to closing the deal it would be an understatement. I saw a ton of big deer just the frustrations of bowhunting when they show up at dark or walk around at 80 yards. I've already booked my hunt for next year and intend on making this place my Kansas home.

One of my friends is flying back from Kansas today. Him and another guy he used to work with both killed nice ten points. Kansas is on my radar now. we hunted in southeast Kansas and let me tell you my friend the body size of those deer took a few days to get used to. We both should've closed the deal but I couldn't get my mind off of the giant 9 I was chasing. I could've tagged out second day but I had a standard and no matter what (filled tag or not) was gonna change my standard. Most people tell me I'm crazy but after seeing the quality of deer he had roaming his farms I decided to hold out for a giant it just didn't work out. What part of Kansas your buddy hunt?

They were close to Garnett.

I take it you would recommend them? yes. Problem is they don't have very many openings. He has so many return clients that once you hunt with him that's your spot forever until you tell him you no longer want that spot. He only takes 4 hunters at a time and ONLY takes a few muzzleloader, a few bow hunters, and a couple rifle guys to keep pressure down. When I went nobody had been in the woods since September 30. I've already got a full group for next year.
