Yeah it seems like I missed or maimed e every deer from Hale co to Morgan county before I got my first one as a kid. Dad was more patient than I think I could have been.

Glad I'm not the only one with a Mr. Stomps a lot! Hate it for the little guy, hopefully he gets one soon!

Back in a tree this afternoon with my son still trying to see his first deer ever from the stand. Hope luck is on our side, got a good NE breeze and a lot of fresh sign in my food plots just need a deer to cooperate!! WAR EAGLE!!!!!

I hunted this morning - got in the stand late, and had a doe come in not 10 minutes after I got there. Later I had a spike (see below) come by - he got a pass (actually all spikes get a pass). Funny thing that happened is when the spike came by from one direction another doe came from the other direction and they met up almost at my stand. The doe literally jumped around the spike - didn't want anything to do with the spike!

I got down later and walked some, and saw 7 does - they got within 30 yards of me before I finally waved my hat at them to make them run off (again, IB overruled does today!). Last pic is of them running off.

So I don't get as much time in the woods as I'd like anymore, but last night the family left for home and I got some time on the ground this morning blessed off by the love of my life. I don't have a club or private property to hunt on, but I have a few areas I am getting familiar with. The one I was on this morning was right across from a bow-only area, but one of the guys who came out this morning doesn't shoot sticks so we all set out with rifles. This morning I saw one spike, a doe with the kids grazing around 10:00, all got a pass because, well, I'd rather see the lot of them down the road with their weight up and another year on'em. As we are about to pack up, I spot a black spot in the distance. Then another. Then another. Then there were about 8 or 9 black spots. I put nose to wind and maneuvered a hair closer to confirm. Waited for an hour for them to get to the road into fair game territory but they stopped just short.



Yep...bringing my bow with me tomorrow. Never hunted pigs with a bow, so the pigs and I are going to make introductions if they show up again.
