How does everybody feel about hunting CRP fields during the rut? On our property we don't really have any good clear cuts but we do have a good bit of CRP acreage.

I would give my left nut to have back the 500 acres of CRP we once had on our lease. During the rut, or anytime for that matter, you cant beat CRP. Deer love to get out there on a cold sunny day and lay in the sun. At one time, we had food plots that were bordered by CRP on three sides and big woods on the other. I cant tell you how many times I have sat and watched bucks chasing doe in and out of the CRP. THey feel that they are hidden in that CRP. Hunt it while you have it.

The CRP is about 4 feet high so it is very hard to see does, however we do find a lot of areas where they bed in it.

LOVE me some CRP! In the midwest anyway. I don't hunt anywhere down here that has any. Deer magnet.

Easy to create funnels in it! When you bushhog those lanes, leave a 20 or 30 yard gap un-cut. Do it within bow range of a tree to get in. Also, stop 30 yards shy of a tree line. Plenty of deer will cross the lanes, but the old bucks, you know which route they'll choose!!
