They were swinging from the trees on our place in Dallas Cty. Starting around the Jan 9th when I was able to hunt I saw chasing and multiple bucks cruising. That activity continued all the way until the close of season. I saw 15 rack bucks one afternoon 8 of which where trailing the same doe. I can honestly say the rut I see on this particular property has been awesome the last 4 years. I see more rutting activity on this one property than what I see hunting the Midwest. I've never seen or hunted another place like it in this state. If our deer had good genetics to grow large horns I would have no problem filling my 3 buck tags. I see many mature deer but they are trash bucks with poor genetics. With the 3 buck limit no one wants to shoot them so they get a pass.

Rut is likely starting this week in Marion co. We started seeing young bucks cruising the last couple of weeks, but there were still scrapes and does with white hocks. We never saw rutting. Club President says it use to always be 1st two weeks of Jan.

The Winston County rut was right on schedule at our farm (last 2 weeks of December). We never saw a buck older than 1.5 years old actually chasing a doe, but 3 bucks were killed (all 3.5 or older) in that time frame. All of these bucks were by theirselves, cruising.

Saw a couple of young bucks chasing after christmas, saw (1) mountable deer chasing 1/11 and another 8 pt cruising that day. That was the only rut activity seen all year. We saw more deer and young bucks this year than ever, but had the worst rut we have ever had. Fayette Co

Our deer were right on time in Cleburne. Its always the last of Nov. But our buck to doe ratio seems pretty good. That helps

Also, the Cleburne County deer were stocked from North Carolina. Pretty much coincides with some of their rut.

Where I hunt in Bibb Co. the rut was about the normal time but very little activity, about 1/4 the activity from the last three years.

Normally the woods at our club are tore up from rut activity in perry co.This year it was almost like they went from rubbing to chasing does in a week.

In Lowndes where I was, it started about the 18th and was still going the 31st. Most ppl didn't see it cause they stayed in the the thick short pines. I went in looking for a buck one of my buddies son shot at and found scrapes and rubs everywhere!!! They didn't come out of the thick stuff on our place. All my pics had does and bucks all scared up from breeding and fighting. Most of it was done at night. I did shoot a buck grunting behind a doe. About 5 to 10 minutes before shooting light was gone.

The rut for me in Madison county was hardcore, about the same as it usually is

In Clarke where I hunt, it seems to have actually been a little early this year compared to years past. The weekend of the 15th had some seeking and chasing. I couldn't make it back till the 31st, and it seems the does were locked down. Nothing but small does and yearlings were coming to the food plots. A few big boys were actually cruising the week before the season ended.
