Finished 2 years at Jeff St. Jr College and 1 year at UAB. Attended a year of night classes at Samford and then gave up. I regret not finishing because I'm pretty much stuck in a job that I do not like, but have been doing for 29 years.

University of Alabama at Home (Huntsville) BS EE 1986
Took me almost 7 years to graduate, worked 40+ a week to pay for school then went to class at night ... I thought I was gonna die about half way through but I stuck it out. Yes it was worth it
I don't want to pass quietly into the night. I want to slide in sideways kickin and screamin Life really is awesome ... Soak it up while you can ...

Graduated in 1979 from Tennessee Wesleyan College , BS in education. Had a basketball scholarship. After doing my student teaching i decided it wasn't for me. I moved back home and went to work in the oil field and love my job ! I had a great time in college and don't regret the time i spent there.
Did people call your dad, JJ? If so, my dad dog hunted with you and your dad on Eglin in late '60s early '70s. My brothers and I just sat in the truck during the hunts...we were real little then. The University of West Florida, BS Systems Science '88 (they renamed it to Computer Science the next year).

Went for about 4 months and figured out real quick it bored the H@ll out of me. So left and took a job Guiding and it was great. Now I own Two business so I reckon so far I didn't need it. I know it has its good points and there are a lot of smart people that benefit from it. My wife went To Birmingham southern got her degree and then her Masters and Gemological degree I feel dumb sitting next to her LOL.

University of Mississippi, 1987-1991, BA Political Science/English Mississippi College School of Law, 1991-1992 UAB, took 4 Masters classes in Public Policy Administration in 1996-1997
I hated law school so I quit, got married and went to work in sales/marketing in the insurance and information technology fields. Got a taste of public policy and decided not to waste my money getting an MPA. Then joined the family business in 2004-litigation construction consulting, so I actually use my degree and law school training everyday. I have to read, research and write---give depositions and testify in court---inspect defect issues and try to put the puzzle pieces together as it relates to construction, codes, contracts and the law.
Plus as a home schooling parent, my college work has helped me be able to assist my wife (BS in Education from Ole Miss) in teaching and training my boys in not only academics but in life. I lived an ungodly and unwholesome life in college and soon after, so I hope to be able to teach them a better path.
College is great, but there is also a great need for trained and skilled trades. Good advice would be to learn a great trade and then study English, History, Sciences, etc... on your own just to have personal knowledge. 4 year college degree is nice, but not the automatic ticket it used to be back in the day. The best training is on the job training.
