So I had a first in the woods this morning. I was slipping down a fire break to a gobbling bird, and a skunk pops out about 40 yards in front of me a started milling around in the fire break. First time i've ever seen one in the woods. Obviously I was a little nervous about pushing on and the the brush on both sides of the fire break was to thick to go around. So I just sat there. Listening to the turkey gobble and the skunk piddle around. Id have to call this nature's way of Cock Blocking.
Turkeys be damned.

I've ran across several while hunting, both deer and turkey.....I just keep an eye on them and ease past them....I don't think they can see good because they've never paid me any attention....I've always shot the ones while deer hunting..... I would let a skunk spray me in the face if God guaranteed that I would kill a gobbler for it. That's dedication!

I agree with Brentm when I find one its always there every time I have been.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

I walked up on one in a pasture in the dark going deer hunting one morning. When the green light from my headlight hit him, I did an about face. Luckily I didn't get sprayed.

Watched from a distance and then I went elsewhere
