Have you been tired? Have you been wiped out, feeling like you are just scraping along the ground, and the slightest incline has you bottomed out, and stalled? We all face inclines of differnet natures in our lifetimes, and we all become tired and weary, in all areas of our lives- physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

However, many of us, do so unnecessarily.

The Scripture tells us in Matthew 11:28-30, we have hope, rest, and Jesus to carry our burdens.

Matthew 11:28-30(NKJV)

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

For those of us not familiar with a yoke, a yoke is a wooden harness which fits over the shoulders of one or two animals, and is attached to a piece of equipment like a plow. The animal(s) are able to pull the piece of equipment due to the yoke.

Jesus is the one speaking in the above verses. He is telling us, the ones with burdens, He is able to free us from these burdens. It is the burdens we bear, which tire us, and make us weary. Whether it be sin, persecution, or even the lack of God in ones life, Jesus, is the peace and joy we need to become free from these things.

Yes we will still labor, but we will labor with peace, energy, and the assurance which only Jesus can give.

Isn't your yoke heavy enough?

Maybe you ought to trade it in to Jesus.

Heavenly Father,

Forgive me of my pride and selfishness, thinking I could carry and pull this yoke myself. I have stumbled, fallen, and tried again and again, my way, only to find I am weary and weak.

Pick us up again Father, but this time, with Your yoke of peace, and assurance. Let us do things, Your way, and be a testament for You, and Your glory, in each and every thing we do, today, and forever more.

We thank You for Your son Jesus, which through Him, we have a home with You. Let us stay focused on the fight at hand, finish strong, and keep our eyes upon You.

For it is in the name of Jesus, our Saviour, and Redeemer, we ask, and claim these things, Amen!!

God Bless,
David B.

Friday devotionals are good for reading on Saturday morning too. Thanks for posting.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

This site is awesome! Great post! I love talking about God, I hope this an addition to the post and doesn’t rob from it.

I notice that Jesus never told us that we didn't have a yoke to wear. If a yoke is to loose, it chaffs the neck and if you keep going it will chaff all the way through the blood vessels in your neck. If it is too tight it will cut off you blood flow to your brain and oxygen as your neck swells.

Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would come with the government on his shoulders; we know he is the last Adam so he restored to us what Adam gave up.

When a ruler was exercising his power before the people they would wear a signet of some sort on their shoulders. Jesus made a way for us to get back to Kingdom lifestyle.

I am pre choice!

this makes me think of a story my grandma told me years ago.

There was a man who had a cross that he though he couldn't carry anymore the burden was just to great. He prayed to god and was called up to heaven, At the gates St. Peter asked what he was there for and he replied that he had a heavy cross he could not carry anymore. St. Peter told him to give him the cross and go into the cross room and pick out another one he though he could carry. He went into the cross room and there were many crosses some so big he couldn't see the tops and some so wide he couldn't see the end of them. There in the corner was a very small cross leaning on the wall. He said to St. Peter that was the cross he wanted. St. Peter looked at him and said, son that is the cross you just brought in.
