First of all it is public land and if you work you help pay for the maintenance of the land and everyone should be able to use it. I do think there should be restrictions on what can be on the land (4 wheeler's and dirt bikes) Most of it should be vehicle free. A then there are things on the land that the general pulic can't use without helping pay a little extra, such as campgrounds, showers and shooting ranges. Now shouldn't you have to pay a few bucks to maintain the well being of wildlife so they can be harvested. I say we should. JMO

yes, but the management areas are managed poorly to me anyways. seems like all the state is concerned with on wma's is filling the whole damn place with longleaf pines so the pileated woodpecker can live, screw planting foodplots for deer and turkeys. if i had control of the wma's the very first thing i would do is clear cut about 70 percent of the land and cut the 100 year old hardwoods and longleafs off of it, leave a few seed trees maybe 1 every 100 yards, use part of the timber money to bulldoze half of what was cut to make agricultural fields that farmers could lease from the state to grow corn or soybean, let the other half of what was cut regenerate on its own creating good bedding and food. use the money from the leased agricultural land to plant some freakin foodplots. then, you could call it a management area. right now they are just public hunting land. You're thinking of the Red Cockaded Woodpecker.

WMA= Wildlife Management Area. It's not the same as a state park or national forest. They could write a hundred tickets for not having the signed map I'm sure.

Aren't some if not most of the WMAs still privately held land that is leased to the state? It would be a shame if some of these leases aren't renewed due to destruction of property. I'd vote yes.

Here's another angle, when FW aka "the State", buys property it is taken off the tax rolls and no property taxes are paid. So Dog votes.......pay up boys and girls.

Would you support a law requiring people who joy ride on WMAs to have to purchase a WMA license? I would vote yes in a heart beat. YES. And pecker (and peckerless) heads that ride bikes on public roads buy tags as well.

Why do you need a fee to prevent destruction? Just close it to rec vehicles. It doesn't need to be closed to rec vehicles. I enjoy riding and camping on the WMA. It's public land. It should be open to legal outdoor activities. Whoever, if someone is going to use it, purchase a permit like everyone else. It's not a TAX! It's a permit to use the land.

Anyone that doesn't want to pay the same as hunters, just wants to keep on enjoying the public land access that us hunters provide without paying one dime of their own money. Really... So my hard earned tax money that's being spent on THIS doesn't count... I'm a hunter...but hunters aren't the only ones "providing the land" If it wasn't for the tax money being spent to purchase and acquire these lands...public hunters would be out of luck altogether....
