Anyone that doesn't want to pay the same as hunters, just wants to keep on enjoying the public land access that us hunters provide without paying one dime of their own money. Really... So my hard earned tax money that's being spent on THIS doesn't count... I'm a hunter...but hunters "don't provide the land" If it wasn't for the tax money being spent to purchase and acquire these lands...public hunters would be out of luck altogether.... Read my post again. It said public land ACCESS. Hunters pay the taxes as well as the cost of a permit. Why should one group have to pay, but another doesn't? Why does one group get a "discount" by not having to buy a permit?

You said... keep on enjoying the public land access that us hunters provide without paying one dime of their own money. How are "hunters providing" public access? Are they standing at the gates checking IDs and permits? Hunters and non hunters provide it... You buying a WMA license doesn't provide the nonbuyer chit... He has as much right to it as anyone...

There have been numerous times I have traveled to the Cahaba River WMA to shoot my guns only to find that the place is over run by people who do not have a license. I traveled down there during the holidays and there was a whole family from out of town with coolers and snacks and pop up shade in case it rained, bet you most if not all of them did not pay to use that range, do you think that is fair? How about the folks who like to ride their mountain bikes through the WMA, do they pay a fee?
But who prays for Satan? Who, in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most?

If anyone knows, I would like to know if management area funding comes from only fishing and hunting license sales. And not just for purchase or lease of properties, but the care of the lands, such as road improvement and maintenance, including law enforcement. It is hard to access public lands for hunting or 4 wheeler riding without a road to ACCESS it.

The question presented in this post, is not about whether taxes should be enough to provide public land opportunities. It is about why should one group of public land users pay, but another does not. Do you need a fishing license to go swimming? More money into the system will not help hunters. It will only result in more restrictions, more convoluted and hard to comprehend game laws, and more officers to enforce them.

Swimming does not require money for things like management and care of roads, etc. I don't think everyone paying the same will create more restrictions, etc. It would probably mean less people using the property which would mean less need for more enforcement and less damage to roads, etc. I don't know what's complicated by everyone paying the same and carrying their own weight.

Why are roads being damaged? The solution is not to spend money to fix the symptom but to stop the problem. We have several fee areas in the NF that previously were not. There has been ZERO improvements to any of these areas because of fees. No garbage is picked up, no new trails, nothing except that now it costs to do what it once didn't.

Two things are real, real obvious to me from reading all of this.
1. A whole bunch of people don't hunt on WMA's. 2. A whole bunch of them DAMN sure don't hunt specificallly on Skyline WMA.
