I read this on another forum about Harbor freight. I deliver freight to Harbor Freight.
It is weird, I pull the 18 wheeler up to the back of the store in the little mall. Harbor Freight does not have a dock.
Out comes a guy driving a fork lift. His buddy jumps up in the truck, hooks a strap to the pallet. Fork lift guy pulls the pallet to the back of the truck, then the other guy unhooks the strap and the other guy off loads the pallet with the fork lift. They just stack all the pallets right there on the asphalt.
Those guys are pretty good, they work fast. They unload a truck in 45 minutes.
I dont know why but it got me this morning...

Not how it was unloaded. Just that
1. he said its wierd
2. they are stacking it on asphalt
3. I pictured them using a harbor frieght brand forklift and having to replace it "under warranty" 4 times to complete the job.
I dont know, I guess Im special.

i dont get it. i have done this same thing many many times. what is so amazing about how it was unloaded? Me too. I've also loaded trailers about the same. Put the pallet in trailer, back out, push it as far as the forks will push, have someone put a 4x4 against the pallet, push another 10 feet, repeat with more pallets.
Yeah c’mon. Daniel White

Is there anyone home? (To continue the Floyd vibe)
That having been said, yeah that really kind of is funny, in a sad way. How anyplace that can afford a forklift, and is BOUND to get who knows how many pallets of stuff in a week delivered doesn't have a dock is beyond me.
MOST of the shipping companies who deliver to us have a pallet jack (dolly) inside their truck or use ours. We OCCASIONALLY have to drag a pallet (usually a Zero Turn mower in a crate) to the end of the truck when our small forklift won't crank.
Why doesn't Harbor Freight have a pallet jack to put in the delivery truck's van and shuffle all the stuff back to the end where their forklift can get it?
I wouldn't drive a AAACooper truck for $100k a year. Imagine how many business's you'd go to in a weeks time that didn't have a dock OR a forklift (or a big enough drive to get in or turn around). Just some IDOT looking at you (the driver) and saying "Just put that (3000 lb) pallet of whatever over there", while pointing with his finger, like he thinks you're the Incredible Hulk or you have a forklift in your shirt pocket.
The clueless are everywhere.
Should I be worried that I agree with TC? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Ahhh, yes! I'd have myself check out!
