I cant believe ive been throwing this out all my life. I cooked it with some inner tenderloin and other than the texture I swear you couldnt tell the difference. It was fine fine eating. The wife and kids of course wouldnt try it but thats fine more for me. Im excited to find a 5th "tloin" on a deer.

My uncle saves them all and cooks them as soon as he gets home. It's some good eating. I've tried the liver too and I'm not to fond of it. It would take a lot of peppers and onions for it to taste good. I can tear up a chicken liver meal though.

Stob the frying sounds good, Ill try that next. Very simple, I didnt have time to stand around cooking this afternoon so I threw it in a pot with a top in the oven at about 300*. I let it and the loins cook together for a couple hours with some onions, garlic butter marinade and a little salt and pepper. Thats it. No prep except pulling it out of the ice chest and rinsing it.

We used to slice it thin across the grain, dredge it in flour, and then fry it. This ^^^^^^^^ Mom always fixed it for breakfast. God Bless, David B.

I tried fried heart last week for the 1st time & it was great..I don't like the taste of any liver at all! So I was skeptical about the heart but it was good..
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

Love me some deer heart and liver. To me, that's some of the best part. Bullet hole through the heart won't hurt it none either. A fellow I used to hunt with turned me on to it about 20 years ago. In that club, that was the standard Saturday night meal. Somebody would kill a deer and he'd be standing there as it was being cleaned. He'd grab the heart and liver and go inside and cook us up some dinner.
If voting made any difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.-Mark Twain

One year the landowner whose land I hunt on had two trappers from Maine camp on his place and trap. They offered to clean any deer we killed if we gave them the hearts and livers. Couldn't turn that deal down, especially since we just threw all the guts out anyways. They cooked the hearts by slicing real thin and sautéing them in butter with peppers and onions. I tried it one time and it was tasty, but too chewy for my liking. They said it was better the next couple of days as leftovers in a sandwich with mayo.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
