Good looking spot. North or south side of the river?

Setting on a hardwood ridge. Not sure if I will see any deer, but there is at least 50 squirrels in here. To my left Front Right

Those are some good looking spots. Im in a similar area on Cahaba hunting a rub line just above me on a ridge. Acorns and deer sign everywhere but I've never actually seen a deer here. This is my 4th time in this spot so I'm losing my patience and hoping to see something. I have 2 cameras on the ridge that have been there a little over a week so I'm anxious to check them out as we speak.

One thing I learned long ago, pretty don't kill deer, nasty over grown hard to hunt does. Beautiful spots for sure. I have to agree based on my experiences. Every time I give these "pretty" spots a try I never see deer including today so far. All of the nice bucks I've seen are in the places that are a pain to get to or through. I keep getting drawn to this spot because of the rubs, accorns, and the super sized milk duds. He's here somewhere...

One thing I learned long ago, pretty don't kill deer, nasty over grown hard to hunt does. Beautiful spots for sure. I've realized that but its sure hard to not set in a big stand of hardwoods They sometimes produce deer but the good looking spots are not normally where your mature bucks stay.

So I got home and checked my cameras and that rub line I was hunting may have been made a by a monster spike. lol He's all over my cameras, 226 videos to be exact and he's in almost all of them. I did have 1 of 226 videos with a pair of small 8's traveling together but the rest were the same does and a bachelor group of spikes.
I'll be moving back to my normal spot tomorrow morning for sure. Oh, and I got video of somebody running dogs on Cahaba WMA around 7 PM, that will piss you off! Small doe was running then comes 2 hounds with collars right after her. ugh

Nice! Mine isn't much bigger than that but he can own a sapling. I got to watch 3 spikes fight and establish a pecking order which was entertaining to say the least. I was shaking in my boots.
