This is our first year hunting a lease in Shelby County close to Columbiana. It's an established hunting club with good rules but we just dont see the deer like we do in southern alabama. We tried this club as it was close to home and get to hunt more. Looking for thoughts/opinions on the deer herd in the county and does it pick up in the coming weeks? Have some nice size deer on camera but have hunted all year and saw deer opening day only.

We hunt the same area and are seeing a lot of deer and killed some good ones so far. It definitely gets better closer to Christmas. Not uncommon to see 20 plus on a hunt.

Opening day we saw them in woods and crossing roads. Only 2 does killed so far total out of club. None killed on green fields. I have hunted both woods and green fields since but no sightings at all. Trying to keep a 10 yr old interested in hunting but not seeing deer makes it tough.

We have some hardwoods but not as much as pines. Feeders arent being hit near as hard over the past couple of weeks as in the past. Thanks for your advice! Much appreciated
