In the last stages before surgery tomorrow. I've made a few posts about back pain and options the last few weeks and wanted to share my experience. L5S1 will be operated on tomorrow for a herniated disk. Everyone here is so very nice and accommodating. I've had 2 buddies come down here in the last month and they are doing great with very little down time. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

Shane, it took me about a year to get tired of hurting. You don't have to.

Hope everything goes well. Low back pain will ruin all aspects of your life if not taken care of.

Surgery at 545 in the morning. Surgeon seemed cocky arrogant and I swear that guy floated in the room on his ego. I LOVED HIM! You could tell he was the best of the best in his field.

Good luck!!!

I'll have to try there on my next Tampa trip. The little deli at the intersection of Himes and Cherokee closed down and it was my go-to place for Cubans. I had to settle for a Green Store Cuban this week.

Just depends on the insurance and policy. They wouldn't let the money stop me from getting better.
My buddy drove himself home 36hrs later. Light duty in 2 weeks but I'll tell you more when I'm done tomorrow

I have debated having this procedure done or the disc decompression therapy. I have herniated L5/S1. Im tired of hurting too. Cant sit still in a stand either. Sucks.

I do not have back problems...yet. Tell us how you injured your back so we can avoid repeating these mistakes.

I just built a house with a fireplace and firewood cutting may be in the possibilities. I don't know what folks charge for cutting it but I'm pretty sure its not enough.

Cullbuck, don't stand on a trash can with wheels and a saw horse at 11oclock at night trying to change out a bulb for the floodlight. Landed on concrete patio and luckily an 8d battery was aimed in the lower 3rd of my back so I took that as well.

Guys it's been a great experience down here. These guys are the gold standard for standard of care. All week they've been so nice, never treating you like you were cattle. Once I introduced myself as Bobby from there on out that who I was. There were never any open door room filling pages, it was always the staff walking up to you greeting you and you were asked to follow. My wife truly fell to pieces all morning, from prep-op to recovery she was in tears. She told me that so many of the staff members spent time out of their day consoling her.

As for me the interview yesterday the doctor knew I could benefit for the surgery but wouldn't know the degree in which I would see relief due to the fact that my pain wasn't radiating into my legs. It was however well into my butt and hips. When I woke the doctor has said the disc had herniated and has scar tissues and spurs on it and he felt great about the procedure. I knew the second I had woke that my pain was gone. I feel like Trox has used my left side for his daughters
Quinceañera but that'll go away.

Again I'll tell you that they wouldn't let finances stop from getting better. They were so nice in an interview and it doesn't cost anything to have them review your policy. Let me out you in touch with one of the higher ups in admin that's fished with me so you'll get the best surgeon for your consult

I have considered it and have so far been able to put it off, but I'll tell you what I learned. No insurance coverage was $21000 up front. I have two BCBS policies that cover me and LSI checked and the best estimate they could give me was $4000 out of pocket. They said if it was any more, they would eat it. A lot of cash, but to quit hurting it would be worth it. BTW, my doc says this is the top of the line method of spinal surgery. Eventually it will be more commonplace but the equipment is so expensive healthcare won't invest right now in a system filled with unknowns.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

That's what put me at ease when they said if they were wrong they ate the rest. It's the nicest medical facility I've ever been in. You were never paged in a crowded room, someone always walked up to you. They served you 2 good meals for no charge. The person that is your caregiver receives free massages. Heck after my pre-op consult I was eating a darn good piece of tenderloin with gravy on the phone in a zero gravity chair and they came by and passed out warm snicker-doodles! Beat that for service.
