That's one reason I don't have a handguns in the house. I have rifles and shotguns, but no handguns. Once my kids get a little older I would like to get one. It scares me to think one of them get ahold of it and something bad happen. I need to get a gun case at least, but right now I keep guns and ammo seperated.

You can get a safe at academy for under 100$ on sale that will hold 6 or more long guns and probably a dozen handguns. It's enough to keep kids out.

This is why I don't let or encourage my wife carry. If she wod get a holster and keep the gun on her person I would be comfortable with that but keeping it in your purse is too easy to sit it down and forget about it. I will give her one to put in her purse sometimes if she is going somewhere by herself without the kids but only in certain situations. Loaded handguns are a risk. There is no way to deny that but it is a risk that each family has to way own their own. I can't fault the guy above for drawing a line and saying no pistols until his kids are older. I made a different decision for my family. I understand the risk and accept full responsibility for the guns I have. My wife has never asked for a gun so when I do give her one to carry from time to time as I already stated I still take complete responsibility for it. I make sure she knows how to carry, how to use it. I make sure she puts it up safely, etc.

very sad. Why would have a loaded gun in your purse with a bullet in the chamber and safety off where a kid could get at it.

Imagine how that kid will feel when it grows up and has to live with the fact that it killed it's mother. Gonna be a rough life
