I just got rid of mine and only because ammo for it had become non existent. I had an a bolt Hunter in 243 wssm. The action and trigger were smooth and the accuracy was amazing.

I have an 80s model 7mm magun A-bolt. I get it out of the safe evey so often. It shoots 3/4 moa with 168 bergers. Have kill lots of deer with it. Some out to 400 yards. I personally think the = old A-bolts are better made thumbup

Between me and my pops we have 8 a-bolts, and love every one of them! They are fine rifles. Got a few BARs too, hard to beat a Browning.

Thanks guys. I picked the little 7-08 up today. It feels great. I like the compact size. Also trigger felt pretty good to me as was. The guy give me a 2lbs trigger spring to go with it as well. He said it was money with the light spring in it. Anxious to get a scope mounted on it and burn some powder. My daughter, whom I bought it for, doesn't turn 2 until next week. So I get a few years to break it in. Thanks for the responses.

I have been hunting almost exclusively with an A-Bolt in 25.06 since about 1997. I have guns that cost more and some that cost less, but none that I am more pleased with. My only dislike is as stated by someone above, You have to slide the safety off to open the bolt. I much prefer the safety of a model 70.

Got an A-Bolt Synthetic Stalker in .280 and it is deadly accurate. The only knock on this gun is that the has to be off to chamber a round or unload. I believe they corrected that with the X-Bolt.

I thought the x bolts had a button to press so you could work the bolt without moving the safety.

I've got a .270 A Bolt Stainless Stalker that was bought in early 90's. The things I have done to that gun....and it just keeps doing what it is supposed to do: go bang and make things die.

Daggerz has one he likes too.

On a lot of these shooting forums A-Bolt get mixed reviews. But, I'm like you guys,I've always thought they were great guns. Maybe it's the sticker in everyone's rear window other fans.

Need to google that Xbolt you have there Hopper. That's the MAIN reason browning created the Xbolt, so you could cycle the bolt with the safety on.
Did you not know or is it just a PAIN to do?
