Ha - you are learning.

There are some people you can tell and others you can't in a club.

I used to know a good deer hunter that would respond to the "what did you see" question by just smiling and saying:
"Did you hear me shoot? No? Guess I didn't see anything."
Then just laugh!

central ala,
Curious about the picture with the feeder. Do you have hogs on the property? If so, Do they mess with the feeder?

I think the guy that killed the deer answered your question, yes you made a mistake.

Why would you talk to people in your hunting club?

I'd have killed him if i was that guy. Within club rules and late in the season he would have died

Those deer in the bottom pics are on the same property as the baby he shot, right? If so he can talk QDM and TDM but can't walk the walk . He's got no business in a club like that. If he stays he needs to wise up and keep his mouth shut, cause it's obvious he's not ready for the "big time".

BTW, loose lips get yer buck killed. But in a club that's supposed to be after the big antlered mature deer a little on like that should be safe for show and tell.

You talk to people in your club trying to get everyone on the same page , i know i took a chance on educating people in our club i came in and showed them video and pics of deer i let walk in hopes it would cause people to stop and actually look a deer over in a greenfield before shooting a 3 year old . Could it have backfired sure but i felt i was doing the right thing , if i were you i wouldnt be ugly but would definetely bring up the issue at the next meeting and if some people arent like minded then they might not be allowed back . Some of the guys i showed pics to came to me and told me they were glad i showed them pics because it really helped them to be able to judge a deer before shooting and i feel alot of deer survived because of educating your members.

You did the right thing by not shooting it if you had intentions on managing the property. But you did mess up by talking about it. Better to learn that lesson on that deer going down, than to have learned it on one of those nice bucks you have pics of.

It all boils down to integrity. And apparently he is lacking in that department if he said he wouldn't shoot it and shot it a few hours later. Yes you made a mistake, but that's ok, I think you learned a lesson, just be glad it was not one of the bucks in the bottom pics.

X10. I'm in two clubs. In one, I can't say anything about seeing bucks because other guys will be happy to go directly to those places and use my MRI to their benefit. In the other club, there's a small group of guys that I can share all my sightings with - we do that with one another. The difference is that in one club, there are several guys who are purely selfish - they only think about themselves and give lip-service to helping others. In the other club, we want each other to have success - and if we can help one another do that, everyone will benefit. In the first club I referenced, my general answer to "what did you see" is "I saw a few deer" (when it's actually the case). If I saw nothing, I say that.

If you don't want someone to hunt and possibly kill a deer you see keep your lips SHUT! There are few things on earth that make grown men act immature and stupid like shooting a deer. Maybe money and "hot pockets" but that's about it! Lesson learned!

With the ones you have on camera, I would have let them walked and not give a second thought to someone else shooting it.

central ala,
It looks as though ya'll have some mature bucks to hunt. How many acres and how do ya'll manage it?? Soil type??
