I am buying a new savage next week in .270 win. It's the trophy hunter 111. Was wondering what bullets you guys like in this caliber (grain and style)? My first gun was a .270 and I shot core lokts and power points because they were cheap but wanted to try something new and hopefully help me find something that shoots good in my new gun. Thanks guys

Any bullet designed for deer hunting will work well and kill deer 99% of the time. I like Fusion 150's in case I have a shot that needs max penetration but I would shoot what my gun liked best.

My stepdad shoots 150 round nose core lokts in his 270 and swears by them. I used to shoot a ruger m77 270 and used 130 power points and fusions and was very pleased with accuracy but didn't like that the entrance and exit hole were the same size. If you handload I would try some 130 or 140 accubonds. If ballistic tips is what you like I would try some 150 nosler ballistic tips unless your shots will be very close and if that's the case I'd definitely go with the accubonds.

I always like a light for caliber bullet. I shoot a 150 grain in a 30 caliber round, a 140 grain in a 7mm round. I shoot a 130 grain in a 270. I have used several over the years, but not I am using Federal Premium 130 grain Noslar Partitions.

I've killed deer with a ton of 270 bullets, but 140 accubonds are my favorite.

The only bullets i didnt like we're 130 Barns triple shocks and core-lokts.

I'm in the market for a 270 myself, I recently borrowed a savage 110 and have 3/4 a box of 150grn core lokts left over. I'm looking at Savage, ruger and T/C.

I shot 140gr Fusions out of mine and they performed great from 10ft out to 100 yds or so. I hunt woods and never had to shoot further but I would have had confidence in them at longer distances.

Ive shot my same old model 110 savage 15+ years now and have used 130,140,150 in just bout every bullet you can buy factory and they've all done the job. Since I have started loading my own for the past 2-3years I've stuck with the 140gr noslers ballistic tip or 140gr hornady BTSP interlock which ever I found the better deal on and like stated above it'll do the job from 10ft all the way out to 425yds just remember shot placement and let it fly!

I've taken over 50 head of big game with my Model 70. 130 grain pointed soft point core-lokt is all I have ever used. I've never hit an animal that I didn't find. this includes a 300+ pound hog hit directly in the front shoulder, and a number of hard angled shots entering or exiting through the gut.

They are inexpensive and easy to find. Whatever ammunition you decide on, buy as many of the same lot number as you can. In doing this, (instead of picking up a few boxes each year) you can insure you are getting ammo that was loaded to the same specifications.

"The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. - Finn Aagard

Sorry, 140gr out of a 7-08, the .270 was 150gr. Either one equaled dead deer.

As it's been said, any bullet designed for big game will work well in the .270 WIN. if you do your part, but I've been handloading the 110gr Barnes TTSX for myself and a couple of the guys in our club for the last couple of years and it has been impressive. Barnes Load Data claims 3,504fps from a 24" barrel. That extra velocity seems to put them down and keep them down.
