Yup, its going good down this way. Driving after dark is also a lot more dangerous. I saw way too many tonight at 60mph.

I would agree about coffee, I hunted/scouted at Rucker today and I couldn't find an old scrape for the life of me. I must have just been in a deerless area, but pig sign was easy to find.

Chasin goin on in Pike county but just small bucks. I have bigger bucks on camera but they are only moving at night. Either it got over real quick that third week of January or ithas not started yet. Just a weird year.

I think the warmer weather we keep having is causing most of the activity to occur at night.

I almost hit a buck running across the Opp bypass last night, looked like he was in full pursuit of something. Missed him by a few feet.

Zero at our place in SW barbour county. I know guys with 2 different properties in the same area and same thing. Just a little spurt of activity about the 3rd week of January now its dead. Happy for the 10 days, maybe they will pay off next year.

Bucks are cruising and chasing in Mobile county smile We have shot at a buck each of the last three days. We had only killed and or shot at two buck all season up to this point. So yes I am happy about the extended season smile

Our club has killed about one buck every day for the past week. No giants but some decent racks. A lot of folks seeing bucks but not necessarily chasing. I'm a little underwhelmed but other folks seem to be "racking" up in this last week.

It was 50/50 in our part of Bullock, Co. the last couple of days. Some does were being chased and some weren't.

We'll likely never have a Feb season this far north.

I have a small tract that I hunt in Blount as well. I too believe that right now is the best time to hunt that property. I hunted the 27-29th of January and it was the worst 3 days I had there all year. All the trail cam pics we had the last two weeks of season we did not have 1 buck on cam. All the doe were still together.

It is totally opposite at our place. Our bucks are chasing 24/7 right now. Everyone is seeing bucks, large and small. We still have some big boys that don't even seem to be interested in breeding, even though they are still working scrapes. All you have to do is go the local processor and you will see and hear about one big buck after another being brought in right now. None of these deer would have been taken this season if they had not extended the season. My concern is that we may be losing too many good 4 and 5 year old breeder bucks, but I am sure there are others standing around waiting their turn at the helm.

don't really have a dog in the fight since I primarily hunt in Jackson Co., but personally I think the line should have been somewhere around Dothan, Evergreen, etc. I hunted on a good piece of property in Macon Co. last week and the rutting is pretty much done. Same story in Bullock Co. If I was a landowner in the black belt or leased land there, I'd much prefer to have an earlier start to bow season and then a 2 week break in early Dec., over the extended season into Feb.
