Between fingers getting smashed and stumping toes, I live in constant fear. I just smashed my thumb and trigger finger so bad I almost fainted. Got caught in a machine I use as I was loading it up on a hitch carrier and couldnt stop it before it was past the point of no return. Im sitting in the truck wiping tears and sipping on a juice box till they feel better. Carry on

I almost had this happen! Worse smashed finger I got was during a turkey hunt one morning. I stepped out of my truck and had my gun in my hand and a turkey gobbled real close. I was looking in the direction of the bird as I eased the door shut. As I heard the click when it shut, at the same second I felt a searing pain on the tip of my finger! I had closed the door on my index finger! It HURT like hell and there was no pulling it out! So I'm sitting there trying get my keys out of my pocket which are on the opposite side of my free hand and I am in tears by this point. Turkey still gobbling.

I don't have a key fob so when I finally get the keys out, I'm frantically trying to put the key in the lock while my mind is going numb from pain. After what seems like an hour, I eventually get the door open and my finger is free. The joy is short-lived however when I see blood start to fill in under the nail. By this time the bird has flown down and shut up. I hunted him but didn't kill.

My finger was killing me and I could feel my heartbeat in the nail. Got back to office and took a eyeglass screwdriver and drilled a hole in my nail to relieve the pressure. It looked like the Beverly Hillbillies opening theme with "up from the ground came a bubbling crude" when that blood came out. Instant relief though!

Doc thats exactly what happened to me. Slammed the door closed with my right index finger hung and door closed completely and locked. Had to get keys out of front right pocket with left hand and unlock. if felt like it took 30 minutes.

I crushed the ends of my pointing finger and bird finger years ago with a 22oz estwing.Was settin piers under a mobile home and had my hand flat down on a concrete block beating on the edge leveling it up.I took a hard swing and the hammer caught the edge of the frame just enough to sway it off its final destination of hitting the edge of the block and put it on a crash course straight to my fingertips.They were bout flat.I cried...no...I sobbed like a 2 month old.

Thats the worst way to "cut" off a digits to me, to mash it off. Ive thought of this when using a hydraulic rebar cutter because they go so slow and dont have a reverse. Just a slow, steady slice till its off, sounds delightful.

When I was in college I was working as a carpenter. I was down in an eight foot deep hole building concrete forms with an old experienced carpenter. I hit my thumb and damn near cried. Ol Billy thought it was funny as all hail. He'd just break out laughing every 20 minutes er so. Bout an hour later he dead centered his left thumb, it was at least six inches from the nail he was trying to hit. Billy hit a nail HARD, one lick on 16p nails. He grabbed his trumb and looked at me. "If you laugh I'll kill you here in this hole", he said. I believed him......I laughed like all get out after I got home that night.


I got the end of my right thumb bit 90% off by a barracuda off Stuart Fl. Doc sewed it back up, but it was vrry sore to the touch. Two days later I hooked a big barracuda on my fly rod. Fly reels are 1:1 ratio and the handle turns as the spool turns. Cuda was doing about Mach1V as the handle hit the end of my bit thumb. I damn near dropped the rod in 80 feet of water...pretty sure I shed a tear.....

I cut the end of my bird finger on a table saw, all the way to the knuckle. looked like you stuck a firecracker u in the finger and blew it up. Didn't hurt too bad though till the nurse at UAB "cleaned" it. When they gave me a shot right in the tip of the finger to deaden it so it wouldn't hurt I came three feet straight up off the table. Goodgooglymooglythathurt!!!!!!!!! Worst pain I've ever felt. I took the stitches without any more "no pain" shots. Hurt like hail, but not as bad as that damn shot did.

Yes it hurt. Bad.

I had two of mine smashed so flat it spit the ends of them open and peeled the finger nails off from the back. Guess I went into shock so fast I didn't have time to chit my pants.

Y'all sound like a bunch of girls, the fat finger was crushed in a steel roll forming machine. Looked like hamburger, had to get it sewn up.
