BS I'm working nights and haven't had time to do anything with them. I'm going to start prepping them Tuesday when I work off and I'll be giving product detail and reviews for each trap.

MB 650 cast, MB 650 IL, MB 550, KB 5.5, Bridger #2 and Montgomery #3. Sleepy Creek #4.5 and #3 double long springs.
Trying dogless designs and paws-I-trip on the 550! I also ordered a dozen paws-I-trip pans for my victors.

My only problem with the 550 is 4 3/4" inside jaw spread. Alabama law says 6" max and I want every extra inch I can get.

The KB compound 5.5 comes 4 coiled with offset jaws and laminations. It's dogless with adjustable pan tension that will go down to 2.5 lbs. It comes base plated and center swiveled. Jaw spread is 5 1/2". The jaws are riveted at the base instead of being turned up. This trap is $29 from F&T but is literally built like a tank. The only negative I see in this trap is that the pan sits lower than the jaws. It's level and is crisp but when bedded it's going to be 1/4" lower than the jaws in the bed. I guess that's something I'll have to see about when it's actually in the ground. Yes this is an expensive trap but I can also see it being a favorite on my line! More to come tomorrow!

The MB 550 is a super nice trap. No need for modifications because it has it all already. 2 coiled this little trap is going to be an awesome all around trap for fox, bobcat, coyote and coon I believe. And if you're only targeting coyotes it can be four coiled to eliminate non target catches. My only set back with it is only 4 3/4" jawspread. We are allowed up to 6" in Alabama and that extra 1 1/4"s does make a difference to me.

The Bridger #2 dogless also comes with all the mods you can pack into a trap and should hold up well! The springs aren't as strong as the other traps listed but 4 coiled it should hold whatever steps on it. It also has adjustable pan tension and the dogless design is super nice with a large pan. The only problems I see with this trap is the jaws don't have much turn in them where they connect to the frame and the springs seem a little weak compared to the others.
